SuthernCumfort said:Thank you Dolly for allowing me the opportunity to show off my talents as a fantasy writer. I am in the process of reading Eragon and have seen the movie. I know there will be limited interaction and dialogue with my character with the others but, hoping that the story line is loosely followed, I think I can give your other writers a run for their money.
Cant wait to get started.

Shades: A Shade is a sorcerer/sorceress whose mind and body has been taken over by a spirit when the sorcerer tried to summon a spirit more powerful than him/herself. Shades also possess amazing magical and physical strength.Shades are humans possessed by spirits. They are similar to sorcerers in that both use spirits in order to accomplish magical tasks. Unlike sorcerers, a Shade either gives up his mind and body to a spirit/spirits, or is overpowered by one/several and has no control over his actions. Sorcerers can control spirits.
Shades are immensely powerful, and only three people have ever survived destroying one before: Laetri (an elf), Irnstad (a Dragon Rider), and Eragon. Shades can only be killed by being pierced through the heart; otherwise it will merely reappear elsewhere and return stronger than before; this seems to be inspired by the vampire legends, as vampires can only be killed by a stake driven through the heart.

Shades are possessed by many dark beings in some cases. Whereas wizards and riders in the books and movie receive their magic from within themselves, Shades draw their power from the spirits. The following is from wikipedia:

I'm not really sure why anyone would leave a thread just because someone rped m/m.I don't like non-con but I just skip the sex scenes in those posts if that's what someone wants to rp.

I also don't know a lot about the world/history so I might be a little awkward to start.

sunandshadow said:So, here are some ideas. First possibility, maybe my first rider got killed and I have done my grieving (fought off madness? do dragons usually go insane if their riders are killed?) and am now looking for a replacement. That grief/resentment over my first rider's death might be an incentive for me to be a villain.
Or second possibility, maybe I have grown up as a wild dragon without a rider (maybe envying the ones with riders a bit but also contemptuous of them), but Armphid your character is a mage who wants the added magical power becoming a dragonrider brings and captures me to force me to bond with him.
Armphid said:Both ideas are appealing, honestly. I wasn't expecting to be a villain but I don't mind playing a bad guy. It'll be an interesting change of pace.
It would also be possible for the two ideas to be combined. The dragon that lost it's rider has gone into the wild to grieve, only to be trapped by my character and offered a chance at recovering what he lost. Just a thought. In the end, whichever variant sunandshadow prefers is fine by me.
