Done

Just put it to one side and come back to it when life and your energy levels allow.

Letting someone else end your story for you is going to be more of a headache than it's worth, even assuming you can find someone. (What if you don't like their ending?)

I'm dying, but thanks, asshole! I hadn't thought of that. Fuck all of the way off!

Not sure that response is called for, unless there's some history between the two of you I'm not aware of.

Why is he wrong? Why not just finish it and call it good? Who'd be better qualified to finish it than you? Who do you think would want to finish your work, gratis? What's anyone else's incentive for wanting to do this for you?

Your post leaves many unanswered questions. I'm not sure snark is a good response when people are confused.

Dude... OP is literally dying. His opening post clearly states that he no longer has the strength to continue but would still like to see his final story finished.

How dense can you be? Just check his bio if his opening post wasn't clear enough for you. Christ's sake...

Okay. I'm not in the habit of checking everyone's bio; I'm of the opinion that posts here should be self-explanatory, but obviously others don't share that. I don't know the OP and I'm not privy to their struggles. In light of that, the opening post is hardly all that helpful.

I can't help. Good luck, OP.

Please don't let this guy finish your story! He writes mom/son tales (easily the most inflated category on Lit) - so perhaps his head is inflated too. He moans, she moans, they moan, we moan...he groans, she groans, they groan, we groan. Argh! Garbage!

You forgot a few of the different kinds of moans, but that's okay, I got them covered.

He should have said he was dying, but he didn't. He said:

I've got a detailed Daddy-daughter story in the works, currently over 22,000 words. It's nearly done, other than a good climax ;-)

Any authors on here want to help me out?

I'm fading...fast. Ready to give up. I'm literally at the end. No more.

Which makes it sound like he's tired of writing a story that's almost done, which is a good time to end it.

And as Voyboy said:

I would make a joke about the signature below your forum posts, but it mightn't be the time.

Best of luck to OP. You've brought a lot of joy to readers through your stories.

Are you sure that's not a grandpa/grandma story? Really reminds me of my Friday night meals at their place when I was a kid.

This is the wrong place to look for empathy; it brings out the worst in the worst.

They'll shamelessly leech off your good ideas and spit out the peel, but acknowledging? That's for humans.
Welcome to the forums! I think you'll find the Hangout a friendly place, overall. I look forward to reading many more helpful and constructive posts from you.

I believe there was some confusion in understanding your initial post. People just assumed you were talking about your creative motivation and energy. There are plenty of incest writers on the website and I am certain you will find someone to finish the story.
Fingers crossed that the diagnosis was wrong and that you will finish it yourself and many more after that one.

I feel kind of lost here. Like someone else, I thought they meant their motivation had died out, someone else said he meant he is terminally ill. I see nothing on his bio at all, and now they edited their posts.

I don't take done to mean they finished the story, maybe just done with caring?

If you come back to check this, I'll write the ending for you.

This morning the OP's bio said they had a terminal diagnosis. The confusion arose because that wasn't immediately clear - the logical assumption was that they'd run out of steam. In the end this thread has left everyone feeling as if their day is a little worse than it was.

Yeah, especially seeing they must have deleted their bio not long after this thread.

I don't think the first two replies were rude, but I can understand the angry reaction to them.

My wife has been sick for a few months now, and things like this really hit me hard.

Hope he has peace in the end.

Really? I mean... really!?

When I read OP's initial post, my very first thought was "This sounds like what people say when they give up on life, not their story. Maybe I should call someone". So I checked his Bio and saw the message regarding their terminal diagnosis. Is it really just me who understood OP's meaning?

I mean... REALLY!?

Really, yes, really, people misunderstood his post. As you can see from the first few replies. No-one was being deliberately nasty - despite the accusations that sometimes fly around here, I doubt anyone would be so wilfully unpleasant to someone in that situation. Or to anyone, in fact.

I mean... REALLY!?
Their original wording was "fading fast", which I think translates pretty smoothly to "losing motivation." You were perceptive to pick up on the truth of the matter, but even when they later said "I'm dying" I don't think it was that out of the ordinary, since it's so common to use similar metaphors like "I'm drowning." Nobody expects there to be such heavy context behind a post.

Can't blame the responses here, but good job for picking up on it, and hope OP is as well as they can be.

Not everyone saw this right away, and now as I mentioned, their bio is blank, and the posts edited.
