My friend said he smelled burning....

Had it to bits, no sign of anything getting too hot.

Put it back together and ran a load.

No smell.

Don't know what was wrong with it, but I did Condemn his electric heater.

Was about 40 years old and the insulation on the flex had frayed and broken down so that there was actual bare wire showing in several places.
