Why? Less than 300 years ago a 12 year old boy and girl would already be starting a family and working their farmland...

A 12 year old boy could be expected to work in a factory, mine, farm, ranch, or eve learning a trade like masonry, clock repair, tailoring, etc. Hell how old were some drummer boys and color bearers in wars?

Now we expect people to be treated like children into their early 30s...

While fat, dumb, lazy, and entitled children in the 'West' play video games and scream at their mothers for more soda over X-Box Live... there are children in Africa carrying water to their village from a well 10 miles away or wielding AK-47s for a warlord somewhere!
