When someone that you get to know rather well online (typically same sex) starts picking up on your personality traits and starts mimicking you? For example, in chat or on boards, we all display aspects of ourselves...with key personal phrases, opinions on certain topics, a taste in music or books, etc... Then seemingly out of nowhere, you see a person, perhaps one you've talked to a lot, maybe one you even consider a "friend", basically stating your shit verbatim? Now, this comes after you've talked with this person and you knew that they were not very similar to you at all. It just chaps my ass, that's all. Wondering if anyone else ever felt the same.

Yes, I'm in a bitchy mood this week

It use to, until a good friend of mine explained that it was one of the highest forms of flattery. :)

Nope, never happened.

hey kitts...ltns. I guess that the flattery thang does come into play, I don't know....I suppose I'm in one of my "bitch about everything" moods.

Love your AV, btw...precious.

sounds freaky like that film where the girl gets the same hair cut :)

i've never noticed that this sort of thing even happens ... i doubt even if it did happen if i'd notice ... how can you be sure they are copying you ?

sounds like playground stuff and if someone wanted to do that then i guess i'd just ignore it

Well I think it happens more in chat than it does here, at least from what I've seen.

When you chat it's immediate, constant talking with a group of people. Your personality, words that you use, the way that you *talk* even more so there than here.

I know that at the site I attend you just sort of pick up certain phrases from one another but there are some people who will copy you almost completely. I know I'm not explaining this well.. I've had less than 2 hours sleep. lol

It's one thing to have just a few quirks of your's used by others occasionally.. but another to have someone consistantly do it.

Like I said honey.. it is annoying as hell sometimes but it is a form of flattery. They just admire you and like you.. and probably see how much attention you garner. :)

And thank you sugar.. missed seeing you around.

Well, its been people that I've known for awhile...talked with, interacted with....people who had never heard of certain things until I said them. Some things that are mine alone, to be honest. Yet, I see them using them here, there, everywhere. So, if it's a phrase or an idea that was originally mine, and I told them...they'd have to be copying me.

I don't do playgrounds.

You actually did a good job of explaining what I was trying to say. Thanks for "gettin" me. :)

I use to write scripts for my mIRC chat program that I use.

Every so often I'd see someone using a line or a phrase or hell just taking the entire thang out right. I wouldn't have had a big problem with this had the people just asked me or even said.. hey I like that and I'm going to copy it to use.

When my ex handed out his new mIRC I perused thru the popups and alias' he had in place and low and behold he had a few of mine in there and gave credit to another.

*giggle*

He'd briefly forgotten my southern temper. He knew how much that bit my ass and changed a few of them on the next mIRC update he did.

Ya know I'm now very curious as to where you chat. ;-)

Actually, this happens quite a bit with one friend of mine. I use her words and expressions, and she uses some of mine, and we both use some of another friends...to me, it's more of a fun thing to show that we're friends.

Now I'm going to have to ask her if it bothers her...

oops i realized my post could cause offense

i meant playground as in it seemed childish to copy

Well, honestly, I skip all over the place...I do go to yahoo chat often, though. It's easy to find some cam flesh there. :)

Oh ok, I wasn't quite sure. But you are most definitely right..it is a very childish thing to do. I appreciate you clarifying. :)

I use to go there just to watch and listen.

Once a friend and I created a room simply to voice chat. Some fella wandered in and suddenly offered us to view his webcam. Being curious by nature I accepted. :D

He has his wang out stroking it, she and I were in a private convo off to the side and we thought we were going to die. He just didn't get the hint that we weren't interested.. so she so innocently comments on how nice his ring looked. Suddenly he said he had to go and turned off his cam and left our room.

Guess he didn't like anyone reminding him he was married. :)

Hey Riles, while you're stalking, answer a question. Does it bug you when I steal your expressions?

;)

Cleo

You DO?

Give'em back woman...I mean it!

I actually see this as a compliment. I've seen people pick up "Rileyisms" and I've also picked up theirs...goes both ways.

lmao...now THAT sounds like fun.

Im sorry...but you dont have anything else to be pissed about other than someone " Using your lines?"

Maybe its a chick thing....I dunno.

Sorry if this seems rude, or if I am using the wrong "Tone", but it seems kindof...no, really silly.

Yep.

Pms is not only suffered by woman. It's a scientific fact.

Y'know what irks my ass? Is not being able to gripe about wtf ever ya wanna without someone belittling it. I mean.. I like to think that I don't go around doing that to others. It's just a respect thang with me.

Oh, I have countless things to be pissed about. However, at the particular moment I started this thread, it was the thing prominently on my mind. I wasn't aware that there were certain standards here that we had to adhere to pertaining the subjects of our threads.

Perhaps you didn't really get the meaning behind what I was trying to say (Maybe its a man thing). Or perhaps, admittedly, I didn't explain myself well enough. "Using my lines" was not exactly what this was about ..although, I'm quite sure that if you didn't get what I was pushing at by now, there is little reason to try to clarify the topic now.

I would imagine that deeming something silly would perhaps reflect each individual's opinion of what silly is. So forgive me for being silly in your eyes. God knows that silliness is not something seen often on this board.
