Republicans gutted the federal subsidy for to buy down the cost of Obamacare this year, it takes effect October 1st.
An estimated 20-30 million Obamacare recipients in red states are looking at premium increases of up to 60%.

The lack of a subsidy is not a premium increase.
The subsidy this year and last was a provision provided by the oBiden admin that was funded via one of their trillion dollar covid debacles. In the Big Beautiful Bill the provision was not continued.
While the subsidy is handy for those of us that can afford to live mostly on cash, I know of no one having insurance that qualifies for the subsidy. In Virginia he line is 21,000. Just a few dollars above or below and subsidy dwindles to less than 10%. At 21k the max subsidy is 793$. the cost of coverage is still over 150$ per month. Just to have coverage. Granted, I am not looking forward to 900$ a month premiums. I the total cost of my monthly premium does not change my out of pocket expenditure will be an increase of 82%. That is not a premium increase.
What is comical is Shrumer and hockeem trying to bundle a federal provision for the subsidy into the government funding bill. Their ploy to agree to its elimination in the BBB to use as a bargaining chip now, has failed. There will not be a government funding bill in time for the insured to choose their policy for 2026. Registration in the marketplace is limited this year. November only I think. In previous years you could be shopping now and make a selection as late as January.
So yes the democrats killed health insurance for the working man. And looks to have nearly eliminated it for those of us who retired before age 65.
