Does anybody know

It all depends on the jewelers in your area. You'll want to see if it's possible to get it sized without cutting it. My understanding is if it has never been resized, and depending on the quality of the gold (10 vs. 14 K) that it could be possible to heat it and compress it. Of course I may have misunderstood the jeweler that did mine.

I had to have mine enlarged, so it probably doesn't compare cost wise, but I think I spent between $50 and $75.

beck: when i had my wife's ring resized some years back, the place i bought the ring did it at no fee. for your ring at another shop, i can't imagine it would cost much.

and congrats on having to do this!

I am not able to get my ring off of my ring finger. Is there any advise as to how I can do this... short of cutting the finger off or cutting the ring?

Maybe I should just leave it on... perhaps it keeps me from all out cheating.

Don't cut your finger off. Liquid soap or maybe some olive oil. If that does not work and if the ring is not hurting your finger then I see no reason to take it off. As far as cheating well I can not comment. Hope that helps.

thanks beck.
My thought is I should be able to get it off now rather than wait until I have a medical issue and need to take it off at that time. I don't anticipate a medical issue, but you never know.

If a good lube don't work, you may need to to the jewler to have it removed and resized. It's probably gonna cost you 100-200 bucks though. It's better than the doctor cutting it as the jewler can control how much of the metal is saved. Just my humble opinion good luck

Yes, and the doctor will charge you much more to have it done and usually not under very pleasant circumstances.

I got a ring for my wife resized a little while back and it was about $75 for 14 k gold. I had a platinum ring (mine) resized and it was a little more, but I believe platinum was wicked expensive at the time, compared to good. That was more than a few years back.
