Do you own your body?

Until you go to speak on things you know nothing about... like this situation in this thread and abortion in general.

Do you need a shovel? Yours has got be worn out by now.
Why does my agreeing with you bother you?

And in the meantime the relentless and irrational fight against abortion continues.

The bill would additionally prohibit any health care provider who objects to abortion “on moral, ethical, or religious grounds” from being required to participate in medical procedures that would result in an abortion.

“The refusal of a physician, nurse, or health care provider to perform or participate in these medical procedures shall not be a basis for damages for the refusal or for any disciplinary or any other recriminatory action against the physician, nurse, or health care provider,” it states.

So which woman will be the first to die in NC if this is enacted. Which is likely.

Just more hysterical bullshit based in ignorance and moralizing.

I completely agree that no physician, nurse or health care worker should be forced to participate in any medical services they disagree with. Just because someone is in the health care industry doesn't mean they don't have the right to refuse medical work. They're not mindless slaves who must obey the whims of any patient or person around them.

That said, they open themselves up for getting fired if they do not meet their job criteria if it does include abortion services. But they should be aware of that before getting themselves hired in the first place.

People need to make sure they know the full extent of their job requirements and expectations, and not assume any job is required to cater to their personal beliefs or whims either.

The government shouldn't have it's nose in people's personal medical decisions at all anyhow. The only reason people try involving government in health care is to try and force their particular medical views upon other people.

From the article…

“In 2020, according to the report by The Commonwealth Fund, the maternal death rate was 62% higher in those 26 states that presently have bans or serious restrictions on abortion access than in the 24 states with better abortion access.”
And there is nothing creepier than bleeding to death to the sound of MAGAt banjos.

Montana governor signs multiple anti-abortion measures

The governor’s office said in a release that the package builds on “historic progress” in 2021 to “advance pro-life measures.” The most significant part of the package could potentially be a bill that states that the right to privacy in the Montana Constitution does not include the right to abortion, which contradicts a ruling from the state Supreme Court almost 25 years ago.

The bill could cause the court to review its ruling that abortion is protected under the state constitution.

“For years in Montana, abortion activists have used the cloak of a shaky legal interpretation to advance their pro-abortion agenda. That stops today. No more,” Gianforte said.

Another zealot signing measures that will end up killing women. Because, ya know, pro life.

In Australia the answer is yes, and I agree with one exception.

A woman can have an abortion up to 22 weeks and 6 days. My personal view is that 6-8 weeks would be fine, but at over 5 months it's basically killing a baby that could be born premi. There are many people who believe abortion should be legal right up until birth - again I simply don't understand this.

I trust women to make their own decisions regarding their bodies. Banning late abortion puts women’s lives at risk.

I think abortion should be available on demand up to 24 weeks. Beyond that, only in cases of threat to the mother's life or if the fetus is not viable. That's how it is in New York State. I don't agree with the law in those states like Vermont, Oregon and Colorado who have abortion available on demand at any stage of pregnancy, but even that is still far better than those states who have illegalized abortion or have it at 6 weeks. A lot of women won't even know that they are pregnant at 6 weeks.
