Do you own your body?

Given he's a Doctor, and your not, might explain his answer.

I’m not challenging the doctor. Interested in understanding why termination of a pregnancy where the baby is diagnosed in November with a doubly fatal condition would need to be delayed until between 28 and 32 weeks.
Again, he's a Doctor,you're not.
Want to understand go to medical school and become a Doctor,or whine about your lack of understand on a porn board.
Your choice.

Them concluding that it was illegal would be part of the issue if it were legal....i.e. loosely defined requirements lead to stupid subjective decisions.
Yes, we understand that you object to any and all restrictions on abortion. I’m interested in understanding what it is about the “loosely defined requirements” that led to the hospital’s interpretation. If you’re not interested you don’t have to participate in the discussion. But feel free to vent if it gives you an outlet for your anger.

Yes, we know he’s a doctor. Good work detective!
And he doesn't owe you an explanation on his diagnosis for treatment of his patient either. We all know you're a misogynist , but that doesn't give you the right to know, just the tenacity to bitch.

This is why abortion regulation from people who have no medical experience is not tenable. This has happened repeatedly over the course of time since Roe was repealed. And it will continue to happen because the laws are not only written poorly but more importantly, they are written punitively. They treat abortion as a crime instead of healthcare. As such physicians and administrators are left in gray areas in which they risk sacrificing their careers and livelihoods to provide necessary care. To be surprised about this is disingenuous at best and dangerously ignorant at worst.

Calm down. Nobody said he “owes” me explanation or that I have a “right to know.” I simply asked readers of the WaPo article if the question was addressed.

I do understand how violently oppressive the misogynistic toxic masculinity expressed by cis boomers like me can be on this forum. I don’t even use pronouns yet the mods turn a blind eye. Peace on. 🏳️‍🌈

AS said, you don't fall into the need to know category. Stop your whining it already.......*chuckles*

lol I never called you cis....but nice to see you have done some reflection on your posting history and understand how others here perceive you.

Your rage-filled foggy glasses and tear-soaked masks is a burden I carry with deep sadness and regret. 😢

The doctor added that he would consult with health system administrators regarding the new law, the Washington Post reports. The Dorberts eventually decided that they would like to terminate the pregnancy as early as they could because babies with the syndrome often die before they are born or end up suffocating within minutes or hours after their delivery.

Deborah Dorbert told the outlet that she recalled the specialist saying that the termination might be possible – but not until between 28 and 32 weeks.

Then, after the specialist consulted with health system administrators regarding the new law, the couple was told that they would have to wait to terminate the pregnancy until the 37th week of gestation – or near full term.

According to a text message Deborah Dorbert received from the coordinator at a maternal fetal medicine office that she visits often, the specialist made his determination after having legal administrators “look at the new law and the way it’s written”, the Washington Post reported.

“It’s horribly written,” the message added.

Nevertheless, the new law – which punishes physicians who violate it with penalties including license revocation, hefty fines and five years or more of jail time – has left the couple angry and frustrated.

The "fun" thing is the ignorant person who is either playing dumb or just being dumb about this has actually argued that people should seek abortions in other states if needed. Not realizing of course that these folks - like so many others - can't afford to travel for medical care. Nor should they have to.

Again, this is what happens when abortion legislation is written as being punitive instead of providing healthcare.

The real kicker:

Earlier this month, DeSantis said that he would sign a six-week abortion ban if one passed.

“We’re for pro-life,” DeSantis said. “I urge the legislature to work, produce good stuff, and we will sign. That’s what I’ve always wanted to do.”

There is no way to write good abortion legislation when they come from a place of treating it like a crime.

LoL hilarious projection, come on do another,it's a slow night, I could use another laugh.

Suggesting a way to add humor to his life was intended to be remedial not pejorative.

  • The Guardian version of the story says the diagnosis was reached in November but the specialist told the parents that termination might be possible, but not until between 28 and 32 weeks. Why?
The woman found out from her obstetrician on the Friday before Thanksgiving.

The specialist contacted could not see her for 10 days, as he was closed Thanksgiving week, After the specialist saw her, he agreed the pregnancy could be terminated, but asked for a legal opinion to be sure he was free of legal liability.

The specialist's lawyer issued an opinion that the law was very ambiguously worded and poorly written, and concluded that the specialist was free of legal risk at 28-32 weeks.

The specialis then attempted to schedule the procedure at a local hospital, which in turn had to receive legal absolution too. THEIR attoronies also said the law was very ambiguously worded and poorly written as well, and in order to be free of liability the hospital should wait until....37 weeks.

Basically two weeks shy of full term.

Conservative lawmaking at its finest, folks.

My husband owns my body. He does what he wants with it.
Darlin', bless your heart but your kink is not applicable to the rights of people in self determination.

Imagine, if you will, that you did not give your consent. Are you ready to let your husband turn you into a breeder or surrogate? Or if you became pregnant and he forced you to abort?

This discussion is not meant for kinks.
