Ball and Powder?

Tight formations and bright uniforms?

In Japan, they had guns, then after the civil wars, the use of guns and cannon was dropped in favor of the sword enabling the US to impose it's imperialistic will upon a Japan that DID NOT WANT TO OPEN ITS BORDERS TO FURRINERS! Gai-jin...

When we got there, we deduced that they had never known the gun.

:D :D :D

Then the US will have to subsidize the enterprise...

That usually leads to declining quality.

Switzerland, on the other hand, ...

;)

... and shooting British!

That's like the myth that all Indians were peaceful dwellers in a garden of Eden.

I just feel that there would be less killing and certainly less issues if assault weapons were no longer manufactured in a way that civilians could get ahold of them.
What do you think an "assault weapon" is?
The reason that the police force has bigger guns is to stay ahead of the bad guys. Then the bad guys get bigger guns so the police have to as well......bad cycle to be stuck in.
The bad guys use handguns, not semi-automatic rifles.
In the meantime, these weapons are becoming more and more accessible and the activists bemoan gun control because of the bill of rights. Well, my opinion only, when the bill of rights was written, there were no guns that were capable of firing 800 rounds a minute. They had guns that were primarily used for hunting and personal protection.
The Second Amendment isn't about hunting, and the weapons you fear have been illegal since 1935.
Allow people to own guns, but control it long enough to rid the civilian population of assault weapons. Then the laws can relax a bit.
Find out what an "assault weapon" is, and how often they are used to commit crimes.

Nope.

I'm against violence.

Do you own any butcher knives, hatchets, chainsaws or rat poison?

I have a rifle and a shotgun. I know how to use both, and plan to teach the kids when they're big enough to actually be able to point the guns at anything.

No civilian in the United States owns, has ever owned, or can buy an Assault Rifle without first registering for a Class III weapons permit with BATF. That was as true before the bullshit law congress passed as after the passage. A law that expires, thank God, next year.

Most people, and apparently you included, haven't a clue as to what an assault rifle is.

That being said, the below link is an excellent article that sums up what the thoughts are of those of us that choose to excersize our 2nd ammendment rights concerning those of you that would deny us those rights.

Define "Assault Weapon". Not the assinine definition that is in the law, but what you think an "Assault Weapon" is.

Allow people to own guns, but control it long enough to rid the civilian population of assault weapons. Then the laws can relax a bit.
Yeah right. Like we have ever seen a gun banner that has said "okay, let's relax our gun laws a bit now".

I own several guns, handguns included.

As to several comments posted earlier...a little aside.

In this country there are 80 million registered gun owners. Most own more than one gun. If guns cause so much violence...and the gun owners are responsible for all of it...why has there not been 80 million deaths from guns?

In reality, there are more deaths from the following:
Alcohol related vehicle accidents
Medical malpractice
Drug use (illegal)
Industrial accidents
violent crime (not including gun related)

Most and that would be around 79.9 million gun owners are law abiding, violence hating individuals who believe in freedoms gauranteed by the Constitution and the Bill Of Rights.

Regardless of what some may think, the second amendment was designed to protect our way of life and to give the citizens 'teeth' to protect themselves from an intrusive government. Our forefathers knew that the war for independance had been won because of weapons provided by the future citizens. Yes...citizens provided most of the weaponry during the revoultionary war. The rifles, the handguns, the mortars, the cannons. The second ammendment clearly states...arms. Not hunting rifles. Not except hand guns. Not except cannons. It clearly states the right to keep and bear ARMS. In that day and age arms were...rifles, handguns, cannons, mortars, and if they had had them...it would have covered f-16's, M-1 Abrams, and other military arms.

They knew that most citizens were and would be law-abiding. They knew that most citizens would be self-sufficent.
They knew that few would try to take from an armed citizen, what was legally theirs.

The more 'civilized' we become, the less 'rights' we have.
Personally, and I have said this before...if everyone had been required to carry arms on all flights...9/11 would not have happened. The terroists would never have tried knowing that they would have failed from completing their objective. They were willing to die for Allah...but only if they could do what they felt necessary to complete their mission.

If all were required to be armed, violent crime would drop dramaticly since most violent crime is done to unarmed and un-protected individuals.

Leave it up to the police?
Just lately, in the last month, no less than three Northwest police Captains have been accused of crimes. One even commited a murder suicide. In the recent past I have seen and read about the police who are out there to 'serve and protect' doing just the opposite. If you are totally unarmed...what would stop them from choosing any of you for their next crime?

The people of the United States need to be well armed even today. The good cops cannot serve and protect us as well as we can serve and protect ourselves to begin with. When it takes upwards of an hour to get a response from law enforcement in some cities, do you think that you can tell that knife weilding rapist to wait? Do you think that the criminal will wait so the cops can arrest him/her?

All should own at least one weapon. All should be trained in its use. All should be aware of the possibilities that can and in some cases, will occur. All should support the rights we have left.

My biggest fear? That the second amendment is done away with...then how and who will protect the rest of you from the government from taking away the other 'rights' we enjoy?

Think they won't? Look to the 'Homeland Security Act' The Patriot Act' and a host of others. Our government not only would they ARE taking away rights as often as they can under the guise of 'protecting us'.

Do I believe in the second amendment? Duh! Yes.

:D

Uh they're not going to be pullin the trigger while pointing the guns at anything?
