Do you folks in the north do things like this?

Down here in San Antonio, each January, on the last Friday, there is an event called the Cowboy Breakfast. Click link below to see what it is about.

They held it today, and as usual, it was about the coldest morning of the year. Always seems to work that way. (But I'm a wuss when it comes to cold weather. I freely admit it! To me, our temp today is coooold (mid 20's...lol!)

I was just wondering....what kinds of things, other than parades and the like, do folks up in the north turn out en masse for? Here, they do it for free breakfast tacos! LOL!

In 2001, the Breakfast made it into the Guiness Book of World Records for having the most people served in one hour....18,941.

And in case you're wondering, no, I haven't been yet. Lived here for 9 years and have yet to attend. One day maybe, when I'm not having to get kids up and ready for school....

several places in Canada hold Polar Bear swims new year's day, where insane souls jump in the water, often stripped down ( but not nude as far I know)

In Oregon, we have a salmon fishing contest in mid-February...complete with a outdoor BBQ'd salmon feast with all the trimmings. Usually the weather is in the 30's or 40's and raining, but have the food under outdoor tents. However, this year we are warm--62 yesterday and 55 today--go figure! AA :)

Sounds like fun! I'm not much of a fish eater, but the trimmings are great, I'll bet! LOL! Do you guys eat hushpuppies with your fish up there?

A foot? We get a foot of snow maybe once every 100 years! LOL! Oh...and that wouldn't all be at one time. An inch one year, a dozen years later maybe another inch....another 1/4 of an inch another 20 years later....well, you get the idea.
