or are they afraid they might rust?

and how do we keep the tentacle monsters out of it?

the plot bunnies already ate all the carrots.

I think it's more a question of shielding the electronic components from humidity, while still allowing for cooling, than any risk of rust.
And of course, their outside shell could be made of materials that do not rust (I'd imagine something in the line of what the hulls of modern sailboats are made of, with rubber covering for any joints or tentacles)

so you're figuring a rubber cock?

I had to open this and read. The subject line was too funny not to see what you were talking about.

And I agree with Bubo regarding the rusting thing. Especially if its a robot, my head goes to those futuristic apocalyptic movies where the robots take over the human race ... and if water can rust and take them out, the humans would win too easily!

And now ...plot bunny songs are going through my head.

🎶 Here comes Peter tinfoil tail, clanking down the Lit writer's trail. Clank-a-ty, whirl, the plots are on its wayyyyy ... 🎵

Do robots like shower sex?

No, but my friend Dick and I have a shrewd idea of what they dream about...

By how much joy it sparks.

I was thinking, robots don't need to be androids (think factory robots), so the robot could be the shower.
I was picturing Tin Man style. Androids are too human to make the question fun.

Indeed. And a robot may be an android. The latter's only plus over "robot" is attempted humanoid likeness, no matter where along the crudeness-sophistication axis. See Asimov for details.
