Do Atheists pray?

Not my problem whether you believe me or not, but what reason would i have to lie. I'm not that desperate for attention

Mikro: He doesn't believe referring to the atheists. He doubts referrring to the agnostics.

It took me a while to get the punchline as well.

Many years ago i was walking through Watford in the UK and was amazed to see an Atheist Church, i was even more amazed when about a mile down the road i passed an Agnostic's Church.

Dont know if they are still there though
I go on medical "missions" to third world countries. As lomg as I don't proselytize, they are cool with it. But if there were medical trips which forewent all the Jesusing and devotions, I would certainly choose them. Even Doctors Without Borders, when you read their lit, is doing everything in a religious context.

Why? Because the churches collect wads o money, that's why. Atheists have every humanitarian impulse other people do, but without a wad o money, you can't send folks out to provide decent water and treat diseases.

So let's get the cash organized, folks. Even politically, we're defenseless without it, and we have to let a pack of religionists decide how much right we have to exist.

Mikro,

Please don't take offense--non meant. Imps right, it was my small joke. Sorry to cause consternation.

Funny thing - atheism doesn't mean you're necessarily not religious. Take theravada buddhism - Buddha said quite clearly that it's pointless to wonder whether gods exist and pointless to pray to them (whether they exist or don't - which you can't ever know)...

Um ... it was a joke, hun. A play on the words atheist and agnostic. Get it? ;)

My most humble and unreserved apologies. I will give myself a severe whipping when i retire tonight.

As for the foxholes. I doubt it. Atheists do not all of a sudden pray under stress. It's a lovely tale, but it's told by non-atheists.
