Django unchained is easily the most overrated movie since Avatar? Titanic? Inception?

Decent movie, but holy mother of overrated batman. way too slow and too fucking long, and it's barely a step above average. I should have waited for cable.

I read the movie just got cleared by the Communist Party of China to air in Communist China...

...of course it had to be heavily censored by the CPC (like all movies in Communist China) to be shown at all.

So much for the proverbial artist's claim of making art simply for art's sake...

...when the yuan is really all that's cared about.

I liked it, but what everyone was complaining about, the use of the word Nigger and all that blood, was totally over-blown. Take Samuel Jackson out of this film and that eliminates 90% of the N-word.

Typical Tarantino movie...not sure why he's considered a genius, just copies those 70's genre films....

I thought it was hysterical....I just imagined Samuel L. as uncle Ruckus's great grand daddy....

He's considered a genius b/c he's the only moron not making more umpteenth GENERATION comic superhero flicks with no story line and lots of shiny go boom moments.

Maybe your expectations were too high after all the hype. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I thought the pacing was fine and was a "quick" three hours.

Expecting a good movie from one of the most overrated directors in film history, well, now you know why it sucked.

I like him. He's fun, and campy. Maybe thinks himself a bit self important, but I've never been disappointed.

Over course I like blood, guts and gratuitous sex though.

Just stuff my face in your tits and nothing else will matter.

I really enjoyed it. Thought it was great :) (but I DID wait for the cable showing ;) )

Wes Anderson is far superior.

Except for Life Aquatic. That movie was atrocious.

His fast zoom camera tricks are tired. Like when they meet dicaprrio.

It's as annoying as jj abram's obsession with lens flares.

Do you think it was an artist decision or one made by the producers/studio to rake in more profit?

Do you think Tarantino is protesting his heavily-censored film opening in Communist China?

I haven't heard him do so, but if he is one way to actually make his point would be to totally refuse any monetary profit from such a tyrannical move...

...do you think he'd do that?

The Weinstein brothers made him do it....

Tarantino is a pathetic Peckinpah wannabe. Also, The Hurt Locker was a load of bollocks.

Hurt Locker was plodding.

Fan of both. Peckinpah basically rode to fame on The Wild Bunch, Alfredo Garcia and, especially, Straw Dogs...great stuff. But Tarantino's body of work already surpasses him. Might be a bit of apples to oranges, though.
