from Blade Runner film (1982)

Police Captain Bryant: I need ya, Decks. This is a bad one, the worst yet. I need the old blade runner, I need your magic.

(Translation- Work for me, cooperate with this cover-up, and rid me of this problem.)

Bryant: They (Replicants) jumped a shuttle off-world, killed the crew and passengers. We found the shuttle drifting off the coast two weeks ago, so we know they’re around.
Deckard: Embarrassing.
Bryant: No sir. Not embarrassing, because no one’s ever going to find out they’re down here. ‘Cause you’re gonna spot ‘em and you’re gonna air ‘em out!
Deckard: I don’t work here anymore. Give it to Holden. He’s good.
Bryant: I did. He can breathe okay, as long as nobody unplugs him.

Deckard: [getting up to leave] I was quit when I come in here, Bryant, I’m twice as quit now.

Bryant: Stop right where you are! You know the score, pal. You’re not cop, you’re little people!

-the most basic division, that there is. Authority figures, who have the power to coerce others. You must have an alliance with others in Authority, to resist coercian. You cannot have an alliance unless you are in Authority.

There is a threat behind the coercion. A corrupt and unethical Authority figure could use any manner of methods to punish "a little person," for not cooperating.

See- Homan Square
See- Chicago Police Department
See- police kidnap citizens and hold them at Homan Square
See- information and false confessions obtained by torture, oppression, beatings, deprivation
See- intimidation, coercian

[Deckard stops at the door]
Deckard: No choice, huh?
Bryant: [smiles] No choice, pal.

Statistically, in my adult life, I have met and interacted with more ethical and duty oriented law enforcement officers than corrupt bad ones.

That job comes with a price, no one enjoys being around an officer in "cop mode" so to speak, but that's the employment requirements.

Very few of the officers I have interacted with, and there have been many, are disrespectful or condescending or aggressive when unwarranted.
