Did I catch someone?

OK, Here's the plan

I've been lurking a while and not really a newbie, so this is a thought out plan.

I have seen all the "Discussions" and flame wars about those few not-so-nice people who give a 1 or 2 vote on poems or stories that are deserving of much better scores, and how much those lowball votes can hurt. Many people have been hurt or dammaged by those votes.

Here's the plan:
Whenever and wherever someone, some otherwise good writer or nice person, has been lowballed or flamed by some person with only 3 initials or other anonymous identity, there is a way to overcome it!
It only takes 7 each "5" votes to overcome a "1" vote and raise the score to an "H"!!!!! Do the math: 7x5+1/8= 4.5

SO, when this happens to some nice person, at least 7 of you nice people rush over to their story or poem and give them a "5".
Then the scores can moderate back to a real score plus or minus 4.5, depending on how good the work really is.

Oh my goodness...I just read this entire thread...WOW. I am speechless. If I read a story and I am not liking it, truthfully, I just x out of it..I don't leave a vote and I don't make a PC or give a feedback. I don't want to hurt a person just because I am not particularly interested in something they wrote. I have people sending me comments all the time telling me that my stories are good, but my writing can improve...great, wonderful, thank you, thank you...but in the same comment they tell me that they got off on my stories...okay, great again.. that's really why I am writing on Literotica. I am not looking to win a prize, just to have fun and give someone else some "enjoyable" time.

I think it is sad that someone needs to "troll" someone's story. As much fun it is to think up the stories and write them, it is laborious to edit (okay, I try, really) and to wait for it to post. I would never want to give someone a 1 or 2 or even a 3 just to fuck with them. I had a recent feedback where the person told me that he decided to send me a personal feedback instead of leaving a PC because he wanted to personally criticize my work. Which I read and then sent him an email back thanking him for his comments. He also said that he couldn't wait to read me other stories...which scared me a bit, leaving me thinking 'Oh, great he is going to slaughter me.' But again, I am writing for fun. There are true authors here who take their work seriously and if that upsets some people, that's a shame. I really didn't realize that there was such competition here between writers. It is a bit disheartening and now I understand why so many of my friends were upset recently.

I love being able to post stories on Lit. I love being able to tell a story, whether it be erotic or romantic. This whole thread just makes me really sad.

I am sending out hugs and kisses to all of you that have been hurt and discouraged by the person or persons trolling the stories. I may get trolled for posting on this thread now, but I just needed to lend my support to all of my friends and all the writers here on Lit.

Once upon a time...

...there was an author named Deborah in Literotica land. Many liked her stories. She did receive year-end author awards in 1999 and 2000.

But then Deborah did battle on the Bulletin Board with the evil troll known as Patryn and Patryn trashed Deborah's stories with 1 votes. Why, one of Deborah's stories got over 100 of those nasty Patrynized 1 votes (236 votes/2.35 rating--what's that HornyHenry--700 or so 5 votes?) Patryn couldn't just vote twice, she could vote a hundred times.

Patryn had much, much more in her bag of dirty tricks. She liked to create multiple identities and have them talk to her and one another. Kind of like her family. But by far Patryn's most famous caper was a fake suicide attempt. That had everyone crying and wanting to know where to send the cards and flowers. Oh, and some say Patryn hacked their computers.

So yesterday Deborah posted on the Bulletin Board for the first time in three years and touches base with some of her old friends. And what did Deborah come to find out? Patryn is still here.

Hmmm. I just wonder...

My response to ANYONE who said that YDD is not paying attention to all this commotion would have been, "You are either lying or stupid." Of course she is. That's part of the game. I now see that I need to revise my response to, "You are either lying or stupid or medicated."

And believe you me, Mindy, you are the first person I'd believe about a conspiracy as you roll your eyes.

OMG! Who is this bitch picking of my sweet Gosling who I can only pick on>

Oh love, put your tongue in your ass where it belongs . . . no one else will :) Though that would be an interesting thing. :)

...
I understood that a person COULD vote as many times as they wanted, however Laurel and Manu would occasionally go through and delete the multiple votes from the same server or internet connection. I would be very surprized if she had 100 different connections. Have those votes been removed from your story?

Got a better plan?

I've been banned in babble land

Part of the problem here is that the convicts are running the prison.

The Nazi regime kicked me out of the Poetry Feedback & Discussion form after my one and only post.

Yes, they deleted my post on the "Public Comments and YDD" thread, stating "Originally posted by sarahhh for the sake of general sanity."

This is exactly what I posted:

***
To My Erotic Tail (in the Post Subject line)

I could kick your sorry ass, girl
Pussy, pussy, I'm more than your match
Look in my eyes and watch my wrath unfurl
And get your fucking finger out of my snatch
(use something bigger please)

OK, I'm a poet now so I get to post in this forum. Woo woo! I hope I don't catch the YDD. Really. Does this shit rub off?

***

I referred to My Erotic Tail (Art) as a girl in the Earth Day contest thread and in several Public Comments. I also told a prominent member of this board who is Art's friend to tell him I think he's a girl and I want to know if he's bi.

So in Art's last post on the thread in question he seemed so down. In his post he mentions he owns a martial arts studio. I dabble a little myself.

This poem, again, was addressed to My Erotic Tail. The poem depicts a martial arts confrontation between Art and myself that ends up in a Less Filling/Tastes Great "let's make out." Funny, 'eh?

The YDD rubbing off referred to the OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder) this person apparently has.

So the gestapo gang apparently thought (talk about misinterpreting a poem) I was yowling at them and got their panties in a big bunch.

I'm pretty damn pissed off I'm being censored in what is supposed to be a "free speech" environment. And especially for what I meant as just a little cheer-up call for Art.

WTF?

WTF is right

What in the hell is going on in this place, Cheyenne? You got forum moderators pulling this crap? I read sarahhh's post last night. before it was deleted. Seemed rather harmless to me.

Well, I guess I'll just go tell those people what I think of them.

The Tigers Growl~

I have had a visitor and haven't made my rounds
in lit as usual plus work has been busy...but...
I was glad to see that some others have done their
homework, not just spatting words but finding
the facts needed to show others of the charactor
and persons intent for "Killing Ratings" I feel like
calling them names but thats verbal lashing and
that only shows limitations..but the fact is this
person is becoming a serial killer for poetry...
STABBING the ratings with low votes on well
created poems?...I had 2 votes on my poem my
freind told me it was out I went to look they voted
5 and by the time I got their (he) had commented and
left a very very low vote...so with only two votes I
can say he did it....or the finger points that way...with
his comment sitting their...funny thing is every comment
after his showed they loved the poem....his pattern...

Hey to all and sarrah, bending over so you can
kick it...hehehehehehehehehehehehehehehe
I sadly got a PM today from someone who
wanted me to read their poem...because they
fear the poetry forum...and won't go near it...this
also tells me there is another problem to address...
Of course this tiger has been spending alot of time
there in the chicken coop trying to work all this out
so I missed this thread..
Thanks for the eye opener...Art

...and you effectively just scared everone else away from there too. Why all this bad-mouthing and dissent? What good does it do? Do you enjoy throwing poop at people who try their best to help others?

The regulars at the Lit poetry forum are the friendliest, most helpful lot I have ever found anywhere on the net. They helped me to come out of my shell as a person, they helped me battle my dyslexia, and to evolve as a writer more than I could ever dream of.

That's all I have to say. Now, if you excuse me, I'm going back to the "chicken coop", as you so mockingly put it.

Tiger indeed...more like a... nopes, I'm not gonna stoop to your level.

still, with all due respect,
-Lin

Is this still going on?

My stories are still great.

If you don't get it, then you probably are low on IQ.

I almost didn't respond to this because your facts
are obscure and I feel you came into the middle and
unsure of the whole picture, but respectfully I feel
your defending some people who have helped you
and thats great.

I have a thread there called the chasin chickens...
it is a poetry thread for my humor and a place to
bring smiles...I have and continue to try and restore
the peace and harmony that has become unbalanced
in that part of the forum, the elliptic has become
tightly woven and I received a PM, from several
who fear going there I went to find out why and
seems no matter what gets posted there a verbal
attack comes in waves..so I see what they mean.

That doen't mean it can't change I will try to find
away to end the malice feelings there...But posting
there only fuels theire fire so I will remain out of
the cirlce and allow them to argue among themselves
or perhaps see if that is the problem...I haven't posted
there since yesterday morning and no they still
argue and perhaps that is there passion.
Not mine.....

I don't know you but I feel I have stepped on your
toe....sorry...I will try and walk like a wood ghost
and caution with every step....or word...hehehe

Fuck all this crap. I don't know why I ever let myself get involved in the first place.

Mismused, I see you don't take kind, friendly, caring advice to heart.

Well, I'm fucking off out of it now, and publicly withdrawing any kind of empathy I felt, or heck, even support (what a poor judgement call that was), for you.

Oh, one more piece of advice: get over yourselves!

Yes, I am a very nice person... until I get pissed on and/or pissed off.

Lou

P.S. I do not hide behind any kind of cloak of anonymity - I take full responsibility for anything I say. That is me in my AV and my real name is Katie Spicer, just in case anybody is wondering, and can't be arsed to click on any links.

The continuing saga of "Where's My Post?"

I did receive a PM from "The Poets" about deleting my post as Lauren Hynde said over on the thread where it occurred. Apparently she wrote the PM and it was sent long after my post was deleted and only after I began to cry foul on the censorship. That PM does not alleviate my concern over the despotic and capricious censorship one whit.

I want to post the PM and discuss the censorship further. Am I violating some code of board ethics or some such thing by doing so? I wouldn't want to be accused of any more improprieties.

And so should I. Sorry, I might have come off a little bit too harsh there, and I didn't mean to offend anyone. :rose:

I can assure you that there is nothing wrong with my facts here though. I've been reading almost every post in the poetry forum and every poem since September last year, and I have followed this latest discussion closely. And I have seen none of the "waves of verbal attacks" you talk about. (Except towards those who disagreed that YDD is the antichrist  )

The only harsh words I've seen from there have been when people barge in, shouting, throwing mud and spitting venom for reasons that noone of us can even beging to understand. This whole YDD-bashing circus is a good example of that kind of scenery. The poetry board regulars just answered the accusaions when they came (and they are not a unified clique on that issue either, belive me).

That is why I can't understand how anyone could be scared away from there like you say your friends were.

In general, I'd say that the poets there go very much out of their way to make new participants feel welcome. I pretty much got booed of the stage when I tried to jump in and say hi on another part of the board a little less than year ago. It might have been a mistake, I maybe popped in at exactly the wrong time. But what I'm trying to say it that feeling welcomed can be a very subjective thing. So, to anyone who still is cautious about introducing themselves on the forum, or submitting poems, I just want to say this: We're all no more than human, drop by and say hi, and I'm sure we can work out any misunderstandings.

I'm sure some of you think that "Oh well, she's one of them, the clique, the circle, of course she will defend her buddies." And if that's what you really think, none of what I say will make any difference anyhow. But I hope that for the more open minded, I have managed to straighten out a few cases of barking at the wrong tree.

Hugs and kisses to everyone,
-Lin

Thank You linbido~:)

I am hopeing for a better balance of peace
and harmony, and perhaps my views on this subject
come from as we have said in defense of our friends..
But with the proper diplomacy and the truth coming
out about the certain critic thats in question things
will come to light and we will all be right...from our
sides...I hope...for If I am in the wrong I will post
a thread a mile long full of apologies but I don't
see that happening with the homework thats been
done. but I don't fault people for defending freedom
of speech and as said its not a crime to give a (1)
vote to all they don't like but it is a personality
disorder which we will have to except. Prankster...

Thank you for your kind words and understanding

I didn't take your comment as a threat but
someone did and they removed it...matter of fact
I found it humorous...and was going to reply that

I did reply elsewhere that I was bending over for
you ...hehehehehe...smiles....

I can't see why posting a PM that is an official response to censoring you is an impropriety unless it contains some personal information (like a person's bra size or dick size).

Besides, I'm just dying to see it.

But hey, I'll tell you what--I'll go ask the moderators, being the ultra-considerate warm and caring person that I am.

Yes, and now I've read what she/they said in response. I have no intention of asking Lauren Hynde's permission for anything. I have no intention of going over to that forum ever again where they censor you at whim. But I do find it hilarious they thought that poem was about them.

So I'll just print out Lauren Hynde's PM and stick it on the wall with some other jokes. Funniest thing from her since she said after she won the 5th Anniversary Holiday Contest words to the effect that there wasn't much cheating.

I've had stories in every contest for the past year and the cheating has been...well...enlightening. In fact, if you pay real close attention like I do, you can tell who does the cheating.

Incidentally, Deborah, the PM in question was sent minutes after your post I am quoting, which is about 12 hours or so after the post was deleted. Definitely a CYA move on her part.
