DGO's New Unthread!

HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY DGO

Thank you! I hope yours is more exciting than mine. :D

A woman goes into a sporting goods store to buy a rifle. "It's for my husband," she tells the clerk.

"Did he tell you what gauge to get?" asked the clerk.

"Are you kidding?" she says. "He doesn't even know that I'm going to shoot him!"

This is way too funny!

In 1995, I was selected to teach in a new middle school. New building, new concept and new staff. We spent the summer in workshops and meetings Monday - Friday.

One day we had this presenter who bored us to tears. At lunch time, one teacher dropped her name tag and I picked it up and put it on. Then everyone traded name tags. We returned to the conference room and freaked the presenter out. Fortunately our principal wasn't at that workshop.

So, what you’re saying is that y’all were some version of Shane. Nothing wrong with that. :D

I loved that story...especially the comradery. I took a class once on ‘toll painting’ with a group of women I had never met before. After the first couple of sessions we became ‘that group’...laughed until we cried and totally disrupted the class. But, we had a great time doing it. :D

There were more than 40 in our group! A few of us, including the principal attended the same college at the same time. I graduated high school, college and earned a MS with one teacher. So we were a new faculty, but not 100% strangers.

And do you still keep in touch? I didn’t after the class ended. Started working off tour and lost contact with everyone..developed new relationships that have lasted a very long time. Our group has gotten smaller as people have moved or passed on. But our core group has remained strong and, ironically, the husband of one of the women who passed away from cancer has expressed an interest in joining us occasionally. We all miss her very much and worked together for years. A group of truly wonderful women...and, now, possibly one man. :D:rose::heart:

A few of us have kept in touch through Facebook. Several sent me friend requests that I was happy to deny. My high school classmate and I see each other at reunions and on Facebook. This year we were to celebrate our 55th, but it may not happen.

We've had a few people pass away. The husband of one teacher passed. She was the first new person I met. On our second day she approached me and told me that her husband recognized my name on the facultry roster. "Leo said that you two had a few classes together and graduated together." I was truly sorry to hear that he'd passed away.

I guess deaths are to be expected when you reach 70 though age doesn't make it easier. Social Media has made it easier to keep in touch. Not a day goes by that I don't connect with at least one classmate.

Good afternoon DGO. Just letting you know I haven’t forgotten about you and also giving your thread some much needed attention.

This afternoon it’s beautiful out, 60°F. The sun is out, because of the time of year, a jacket is still needed. I’m so tired I can’t partake in it. My body is tired for lack of sleep. Waiting for my mind to relax is something.

In the meantime, how are you? I’m in hopes of sprucing to life this humble little thread that I find quite amusing and fun with a post or two.

I have not posted much with you or DGO in quite a while so I thought I would say hi and subscribe to this thread. I hope you are both doing well.
