First, Frank Launteberg now Walter 'Fritz" Mondale. Two old white guys from another era. The party of diversity shows its true colors.:)

Easy potshot to take. If you were trying to retain the seat Wellstone's death just opened, who would you propose to the electorate of MN?

Ha! That's the description for about a third of the republicans. Hell, even the young white guys seem like they're from another era.

LOL yes, the party that embraces all goes back to the old guard. Nothing new, nothing different.

I agree it is an easy potshot, Why not find a younger person to fill the vacancy?Or a person of color or a women? Both Mondale and Lautenberg have had their day in the sun.

Only a third, Devli?

MN is as far as I know the only state with an Indian-American (as opposed to a Native American, that is) serving in the state's senate. He is not, however, a statesman who has been working on national/international-level issues - would you propose him instead of somebdy with experience in DC? I don't thnk it works, he's quite good locally. Do you want the black female mayor from Minneapolis to take a shot at the issues and politics in the nation's capitol?

Mondale may not be the best choice, but he does seem to be the person with some chance of both resembling Wellstone's voice on issues and beating the relatively smarmy newly-converted Republican (with no national experience) and his mysterious out-of-state PAC-funded smear campaign ads. It's clear this state is of huge interest to both parties when a million dollars worth of anti-Wellstone ads are bought by people based in Virginia.

There are few, if any, people of color ready to step up to the challenge at this juncture, and arguably none that wouldn't be wasting their time running against Coleman with so little time remaining anyway. If you see a more pragmatic alternative for the DFL party I'm sure they'd be delighted to hear from you.

Oh contraire, Sir Lukky. I don't think Out of state PAC's give a rat's ass about MN or the concerns of it's citizens;) .

At this late date, it would require name recognition to get results.

That probably means a Mondale, a Humphrey, or a Wellstone, & I don't know what those families have in stock.
