Many moons ago Lits posted my story "Reverie" (thank you). I have since submitted about 10 new items ver the last few months and they seem to have fallen into a warp in the space/time continuum.

I realize that there is probably a backlog of material but I have, through various methods asked if a) the submissions were received, b) whether the format for submission was acceptable, c) whether they met Lits' standards, and d) could someone olease contact me regarding the above questions.

Answer: Silence.

If you emailed the stories to the site, then they probably got lost in the tide of email.

Re-submit your stories to literotica via the submission form in the scripts. Login on the index page, press submit story, and then cut and paste the story in from your word processor. Press submit, unless you want to see what it might look like first, then press preview. Do not forget to press submit. Anyway, within 24-72 hours you should see your stories posted on the site.

There is a thread on the Author's Hangout about someone who just went through this very same problem. I'm sure Laurel, the webmistress, will want to let you know that she does want your stories posted. Blathering on here.

No such thing as a free lunch bubba, don't know what you're talking about millions of SERIOUS READERS not just the jack off kings who visit lit. But it does sound suspiciously like spam. Don't trust your motivations either. Do explain.

No, there is a TRADE OUT factor. I SHOULD have said "sexfiends like ME." I don't SPAM. My motive is QUID PRO QUO in the best capitalistic sense. J.O. stories on the Internet are sufficient for SOME. SERIOUS READERS want to THINK about "issues" related to THEM, and as a Gay Male, I have a LOT to think about, as do other GM, and some would like their perspectives SHARED where it might make a DIFFERENCE. The major publishers of Gay Erotic Stories are FLOODED with unsolicited submissions by amateur writers. Professional writers have an Agent to promote them. VANITY PRESS operators contact EVERYONE who THINKS he had written something GREAT and offers to print 2000 copies for a STEEP price. There is no PROMOTION of the TITLE or the Author.

I have devised an alternative route to PROFIT by Author and Publisher without abusing the novice writer. There were no Print-on-Demand venues available for authors of Gay Erotic Literature, UNTIL NOW.

I don't have time to edit EVERYONE, but I can identify those contributors to FREE venues who have a body of work that is worthy of PRINT publication. I invite contributors to such venues to contact ME, if they are interested. Few GAY MALE stories have been posted to LITEROTICA, and few contributors are represented more than a FEW times. Perhaps this is because the site does not FOCUS on GAY MALE stories, and few Volunteer Editors will touch them. I WILL and think contributors to LITEROTICA have a RIGHT to have this NEW information ASAP.

In other words, it is spam. The literotica discussion board is wholly owned by the webmasters of literotica.com a free sex story venue. Any solicitations for stories to be published for any reason in any way, shape or form in any venue other than literotica is strictly prohibited by the bulletin board terms of service. You aren't going to get very far offering your services like that at Literotica, most of the authors don't frequent the boards, for one, and for two those who do frequent the boards take a dim view of spam.

Should I be offended or complimented because you think only males can write good gay porn? I have it on good authority, though you may dismiss that authority as sexfiends, that I write a damned good gay story.

Anyway. The site posts somewhere around 90% of all the submissions they receive. The reason why Gay male stories have such a small category and such a small representation is because people do not write gay male stories, not because the site does not focus on them. I have several gay male sites that I go to on a rather regular basis and the number of stories available there are miniscule compared to literotica, sexstories, and other free sex story databases. The most I've ever seen collected at once was 25 as opposed to 179. And of the 25, I'd read at least half of them before.

A good, erotic gay piece is worth money, but it has to be a good one and of the 179 stories that are posted here, I think about 5 of them are good sex stories and only one or two would possibly be classified as good erotica. Serious gay male publishing venues are the same as serious publishing venues in any other category and they don't want porn, smut, or trash. They publish a high quality of fiction. Maxim would publish may 1% of these stories. First Hand or the James White Review are the same.

A smart writer knows how to do research on agents, publishers, and ezines. Just because an offer is made and sounds yummy doesn't mean that it is. You should probably know that several of our more prolific authors are published already, a few have agents already, and others are already involved in the pay per click.

I just discovered LITEROTICA and was not familiar with the "policy" you mentioned. SORRY! Thanks for the LECTURE regarding the distinction between Literature and Porn. I concur with your assessment of the merit of the GAY MALE stories posted at LITEROTICA. Next time you're looking for FREE GAY MALE stories, check out at least a thousand at the FREE site, Nifty Stories, many written by prolific Gay Male writers, or Men on the Net Erotic Story Archives, a FREE site with over 7,600 stories I assume were written by Gay Males, not a Lesbian-- Bull Dyke or Lipstick.

I found out what I wanted to know in just one day of surfing this site. The BEST thing about it is the internal navigation programming of the site and the Technology behind the Bulletin Board. I had no idea such Bulletin Board technology existed because I have never been involved with ANY BB or Chat Room before, because I figured I'd be exposed to a lot of opinionated persons with more ATTITUDE than INTELLIGENCE. I have profited enormously from being INTRODUCED to Literotica.com by "KillerMuffin," whose comments to a Gay Male who intrudes into LESBO TERRITORY might have been forseen. I saw in the "FUTURE" section that Literotica.com INTENDS to Print Publish, someday, and I would likely be viewed as "competition." Have no concern, Ms. Watchdog, I won't intrude into the "domain" of Literotica again, nor volunteer editing assistance to its Gay Male contributors, whether they want to be Print Published or not.

If you are an editor, prove it. If you are legitimate, prove it. If you know what the hell you're talking about, prove it. I told you in my first post what it looked like to me and let you know that if you explained I would listen to it. You, of course, did not explain yourself, you merely repeated your advertisement.

This is a truism that you will find at any writer's guide. I could quote the writer's market to you, but it's too long. There are no "secret roads" to getting published. There are no "publishing rabbis." There is no secret involved. You claim to have a way for authors to get their work put up where serious readers can see it, but you make no mention of that method. You are hiding something about a business where things like that just aren't a secret. Publishers, magazine, book, and Internet, do not hide themselves from authors, nor do they make it difficult to get into contact with them. Why? Because they sell what authors write and if they made it a secret, then they'd never get anything to sell.

Thus far I see a prettily worded advertisement for your completely undefined services, instant offendedness regarding your gay maleness, and the presumption that this site is not good enough.

If you have any legitimate arguments to add to this conversation, please do so. The opinions you shared regarding the "quality" of the 179 Gay Male stories accepted by Literotica suggests I'd be wasting my time trying to make a Silk Purse out of a Sow's Ear for a meagre readership. I enjoyed reading this thread. The political arguments, even the ones I get involved in, tend to get a bit repetitive. This, on the other hand, kept my interest from the first post to the last. Thanks to both of you.

Now...here's my question: GAYMALEwillEDIT, is your post here an attempt to get authors to pay you money? That's a pretty simple question, but I think it goes directly to the heart of the issue of whether your initial post was spam or not. Even if you aren't trying to make money, which I suspect you might be, some people might question the etiquette of the tone of your posts. Admittedly, I am a bit protective of Literotica, but even an outsider might wonder if your "Hey everyone, I know a way you can finally stop having your stuff published on this lame website" approach might come off as a little condescending or demeaning.

Call me nutty, but I actually believe in my heart of hearts that there are some amazing authors that contribute to Literotica. Is every single story War and Peace? Hell no. Would this site be as fun if every story was an epic literary masterpiece? Doubtful.

Your point about the disproportionate number of Gay Male stories on the site is well taken. We would love to have more Gay Male writers involved in the Literotica community, and hopefully over time that will happen.

Laurel, I was delighted to discover that SOMEBODY more perceptive and astute than KillerMuffin was minding the store. My previous post was being written while I was being distracted by a live conversation and I did not notice you has entered the dialogue. I appreciate your concern as to whether I got involved on your BB just to ask your contributorsto pay me money for services rendered on the promise I would get them published. The answer is NO, but I see no need to PROVE it to somebody like KillerMuffin, or even to the creator of this EXCELLENT Bulletin Board.

I erred in jumping into the initial thread with a statement open to the valid comments you courteously point out. It was not a "politically appropriate" approach, but I THOUGHT I was being attacked by a Literotica Editor. After KillerMuffin's reply, I read her profile and drew speculative conclusions. I thought the Reader might enjoy a little "role playing" story being created by at least one party who didn't realize what the GAME actually was. Playing off the initial complaint by Lord Wolf that no response to her story submissions had been received across an extended period, I created an exaggerated ROLE for myself and played it to the hilt. KillerMuffin was an excellent, albeit unaware foil for my jest. NOBODY does "catty" like an old Queen.

I hoped this diatribe and my observations about the paucity of Gay Male stories at Literotica.com might be brought to the attention of an Owner, with whom I have no problem over explaining my Publication Venture in some detail, in a private communication. I did note your plans to publish the better stories and I was interested in assisting Gay writers of Gay themed erotic stories. I am involved with a prolific contributor to Nifty Stories and a multiple contributor to MOTN, in discussions regarding a collection of their webposted work and original material that is not primarily J.O. fantasy motivated. I will personally pay for their work to be printed by MY new company, releasing three books by each simultaneously. I employ the printing technology referred to as Print-on-Demand, as is promoted on the web by xlibris.com and iPublish.com. I thought I might find one or two stories by contributors to Literotica fthat justified my contacting the author regarding unsubmitted stories for a collection written by writers with their own Internet following.

My subsequent analysis of a few of the 179 stories available at Literotica led to the statements I made to KillerMuffin, not any irritation with her or with Literotica.com. At a future date, I shall again contact YOU regarding voluntary editing, but I have more inquiries from contributors to the other Gay Male sites than I can reasonably handle. My intentions were pure, I enjoyed the opportunity to vent my spleen in response to the underlying persona of KillerMuffin.

There's no secret that I edit and publish erotica...for real...and that our last book included several really talented writers who post on lit all the time.

Afraid of competitors? What a load. My real web site is in my profile and my real name and real business plan is posted there. I'm embarrassed that someone claiming to be an editor or publisher would post the things that were posted here. Nobody has paid me a dime to have their stories published.

Writers...don't ever fall for this guy's line. There are loads of print-on-demand publishers out there who will publish your book for $99, list it on all the online booksellers, and make sure it gets into the "books in print" catalog. They don't make any secrets about how to do it either. It's nice to have an agent, but don't count on it until you've made it in print a few times or have written a truly astounding book.

If you want to know where to publisher your book or stories without a load of hype go to www.iuniverse.com (owned in majority by Barnes and Noble). Not only will they publish your book, but they will give you loads of advice on how to promote it. Competition? There are over 5 million books in print...it's fierce...but if you like feeding with the pirahnas it's a wild time.

Lit has the best collection of erotica writers I've seen anywhere online (personal preference) and Laurel runs a decent site.

The common synonymity of "pen name" and "nom de plume" is specified in any dictionary.

You should not assume that GAYMALEwillEDIT is actually male or Gay. The anonymity of a contributor to this BB allows a person who adopts the "pen name" Lady Psychotica, to weigh in on any serious discussion with her unique "pov." Furthermore, if you review this entire Thread, you will not find any claim that GMWE purported to be speaking "in the name of the gay community."

Had you read the entire Thread, you would have discovered the "pov" of GMWE was predetermined and calculated to draw Big Mouth KillerMuffin into unwittingly revealing her basic character and level of intelligence in a Post with an ID number that can be retrieved by any Literotica BB Member who in the future is offended by the tongue/weapon of the BDSM oriented KillerMuffin, or her bedmate(s). Who knows when GMWE will morph into another anonymous personality and refer a future victim to KillerMuffin's quintessential "self." The important thing to remember about this comment from a London Publisher of Erotic Stories, is that as a writer, and a human being, when you get involved with the likes of "Literotica Guru" or "KillerMuffin" and the Literotica BB on which they ply their trade in "editing" and interpreting the words of others, they are basically "people who couldn't care less about you." Why would a truly creative person waste a huge amount of his or her time monitoring or contributing intellectual drivel and spiteful invective to such a BB? It is entirely supported by a commercial enterprise that manufactures and/or sells sex toys, pornographic videos and smut in conjunction with promulgating the most degrading depictions of what it means to be a "sexual" human being.
