I've just reread all these recent posts, and am deeply moved by them.
For me ... there are several for whom I hold a place in my heart as well as my mind - and I spend conscious time nurturing these relationships. I do share intimately with them and cherish their souls without end.
But it is only my wife who I share the pledge of expecting and free giving the committment of time's mercy to nurture our sacred relationship - literally till death do us part. My wife does not own my heart - but I hold the largest measure of it for her only. She and our shared relationship is absolutely the first and essential to be served, above all others.
I believe it is a generalized trait of our species that leaves most of us WANTING an exclusive relationship that would offer to fully satisfy all the desires and needs of both. Easy to say - tall order to fill.
