Define "woke"

just getting my seat n' snacks for the show. :)

I "woke" up to the fact that Columbus was a dufus. Why should a man be celebrated when he lucked out on rediscovering a continent which saved him and his crew from certain death? (Watch Bugs bunny cartoon on Christopher Columbus, figure how much further he intended to sail to INDIA!)

His later actions? WELL, back then they created a whole "scientific theory" that anyone different them was a separate creation of God therefore not entitled to be treated like a human being. Fucking geniuses!

THEN! Most of the world WOKE up, and started to get rid of slavery.

Trumplikans? Well? They might never wake up.

Like many words in the English language, usage of the word “woke” is evolving. It’s no longer just about awakening from sleep. The entry in Wikipedia does a pretty reasonable job of explaining its origins and usage these days. It basically refers to perceptions of arbitrarily and vaguely defined terms like “social inequality“, “social justice“, “sexism“, and “white privilege.” Left wing activists, hypocritical CEOs, and guilt-ridden affluent white liberals take it seriously. The rest of us poke fun at it.

It's primarily used by the right to whine about the left. Spend five mins on Twitter and see who is using it and why.

Hell, spend five minutes here on the PeeBee or the GeeBee and you can get the same result! :ROFLMAO:

with far less whine traffic flow, natch. here, it's just the same all-day sucker schmucks recycling the appropriated dogwhistle du jour until their media masters monger a new one.

Remember "thug?" They loved using that bon mot. Don't even hear it no mo'.

The extreme right blame the 'guardian-reading, tofu eating wokerati' - aka anyone with a jot of common sense - for anything that disrupts their plans for supreme dominance of the populace.

woke therefore is construed primarily as being those engaged in the fight for justice and equality.

Based on my interactions, it is synonymous with communist, socialist, antifa, blm and Democrat as well as some sort of long incoherent rant of things. I'm sure it's properly used though and not just another #grievancePorn

you forgot tofu-eaters. Our Secretary of State for the Home Department was particularly emphatic on this point.

The first thing that comes to mind is believing that there are 37 different pronouns and insisting that everyone buy into that. Or that programming young children into the same type of thinking is not criminal. Or that reverse racism isn't still racism. Or trying to turn criminals into social martyrs. Or that anyone who votes for a particular candidate is absolutely a racist. The list goes on.

So you just make up the definition is what you're saying.

But it is ok to tell a woman what she can do concerning her health.
