Trunfor Blackheart

Trunfor kept his eyes open for the two assassins he had seen them outside so they were either still out their or were entering the inn. He could sense that they were near, but he couldn`t see them yet.

Phyliss Ovida

Phyliss walked down the stairs to the tavern. She hoped that her shields against physical and magic physical attacks would protect her in case of a surprise attack. But she was sure that those two strangers would not attack her right away, especially with her two friends by her side. She looked around in the dark room, but she did not see the described people yet. This didn't say to much, because the room was crooked and had many angles, and probably more then one connection to the cellar.

Trunfor Blackheart

Trunfor turned to Phyliss, "I`m sure that they wouldn`t attack us in the inn`s common room, too many people. I think that they`ll be waiting outside or in the inn`s cellar the inn. I`m going to the cellar, I can sneak in with ease without the patrons seeing me."

Phyliss Ovida

Phyliss wasn't sure if they werent in some corner of the tavern, but she saw that Trunfor was determinend.
"Be careful, the cellar is probably large and will have many rooms. And if you met them, don't overact, but be prepared. Maybe they don't want to attack us, maybe we can still reason with them." When she tought about this, she was rather confident that they would not attack them right away. They could have tried to ambush her and her friends in the night, without any risk of being seen, and expecting them to sleep. And Haerdon was not with them. If he wanted to kill her, he would have joined the assasins. Maybe they were out to abduct her? Or maybe they wanted something else? They did not tell Trunfor, of cause.
"I really would like to talk to them, before we go into a fight."

Trunfor promised to not overreact and start a fight with the two assassins. He headed towards the cellar door, opened it, and proceeded down the stairs.

There was very little light in the cellar, most of it coming from a window here and there. Trunfor searched the chambers one by one. There were only ten of them and each one had racks of wine, beer, and other alcoholic beverages or barrels with what he presumed to have food in them.

The cellar was also filthy and the place smelt of rotten wood and bad alcohol. He continued to go from chamber to chamber, wondering where they were hiding.

"Somehow I have a bad feeling letting him go down alone. Still, they could be here in the tavern, we haven't checked that for sure. Maybe I have a look around and ask the innkeeper, while you wait here at the ladder, so that you can come to help me or Trunfor in any case?" Phyliss looked at Gryph.

Gryph

He nodded

"That is the wisest at the moment, still unless he had found a way to mask his scent he did not pass here. They could be outside for all that we know"

He moved back, to stand by the stairs, listening intently for any sound that might come from Trunfor that could indicate trouble.

Phyliss walked through the tavern, looking around for people who fitted Trunfors description. She also asked the landlord, but he had not seen them either. Not to surprising; if they knew their prey was here, why should the risk to warn them off by asking a witness? Maybe they mage was even good enough to disguise himself, or turn even invisible? This worried her. Even she could merge with the ground, at least on ground made of earth. But why should such a mighty wizard obey a barbarian like Haerdon? She moved back to Gryph.
I do not find them, and the landlord knows of nothing. They are either gone, or using magic to disguise themself. Unless they are down in the cellar."

Gryph

"If all is clear here...I think the cellar is the best place for an ambush. Not enough room to swing a weapon, perfect for casting spells and too many places to hide away to spring a trap. I'm telling you Phyliss, I am getting a bad vibe about this"

And he was, the omen was not sent for no reason and again he smelled the decayed meat and heard the buzzing of flies

"Why would they help a barbarian who is after you? This does not make sense, but let's ponder that later, first let us go down and see if Trunfor doesn't need our help"

Phyliss Ovida

"I agree. let us go, and if they are not there, we go up to our rooms and pack things." Phyliss followed Gryph down. She was alert, but tried to reassure herself. Why were these people behind them?

Trunfor Blackheart

Trunfor didn`t like the current situation. The silence unnerved him and he had a feeling that something wasn`t right. Trunfor searched the rest of the cellar, but he couldn`t find any trace of the two.

Maybe they weren`t down here, but then again maybe they were.

It wasn't a big problem for the gorgon to find Trunfor. The cellar was dark, but not as huge and eerie as she had expected. The cheap sleeping room was empty by now, but there was still the stench of unwashed people, not all of them human. The goods in the storage rooms were secured by bars, so that she could look inside, but nobody would be able to get in there any way. The guests would have emptied the shelfs by now, if they were not really safe against intruders.
"If they are not here, they have either left or they are to good hidden to be found." Phyliss bend to Trunfors ear and whispered. "We all go up and pack our things. The rooms were paid in advance each morning, so we can leave right away. Let's think things over then." Phyliss went up again, to pack her things.

Trunfor Blackheart

He was startled by Phyliss`s sudden appearence. Has nhe listened to he he nodded and followed her to their room. Trunfor got his supplies together, their wasn`t much he had really, and waited for the other two to finish packing. He kept watch while they finished up. He was nervous again and wanted to get going.

Phyliss hadn't enpacked so much, so she didn't need very long, and the boys had even less things, she guessed. A short time later they were out on the streets. Phyliss looked at her friends, thinking what kind of tavern they would find next. She self looked immaculate; expect for her snakes she could pass as perfect lady of the upper society. Gryph looked very respectable now, in his new armor, like a giant knight. He was not only tall, but although very wide, like if someone had enlarged a human. She wondered if the people would object so much of his teeth and eyes as they did before, regarding his new outfit. And Trunfor...well, there was some improvement possible. Even if they would dress him up, he could hide his horns under a proper helmet or had, but his wings always looked very suspicious under any cover. Nevertheless, they would see.
"I do not know who our stalkers are, what they really want, and what they can do. But I think we can stop searching for our friends by now. I am most concerned about Verialyn, but if she escaped, she will rather find us then we her. She can pass off as a human, at least. Relic is unreliable and maybe simply forgot our appointment, so never mind. And poor Canut is probably gone forever, after the silly dog-beast seized his mind. Let us look for a tavern now, then we can talk over the next steps."

Trunfor Blackheart

Trunfor waited patiently for his two companions. Once they were ready Trunfor took point and lead them down the stairs and out into the street. After several minutes theyfound themselves outside of the city. Once out of view of the city, Trunfor finally took his disguise off and released the stress that they were causing especially on his aching wings.

He took a breath and signed with delight, "Finally, I hate wearing a disguise. Their so uncomfortable." He turned towards Phyliss. "Now what do we do?"

Phyliss Ovida

"First, we find ourself a tavern to stay for the night. Then we decide where to go next." Phyliss looked around if there was any sign of invisible stalkers. She thought: "Don't get paranoic. If they could do that, Trunfor wouldn't have seen them in the first place. Only if they wanted to, of course..."

Trunfor Blackheart

Trunfor sensed her worry. He put a hand on her shoulder in a comforting way.

"Don`t worry, if they were nearby, I`d be able to sense them" He felt a strange feeling in his hand that was on her shoulder. It felt good. He quickly pulled back his hand and felt embarrassed. She looked at him and he blushed, she had obviously known how he felt which made him feel odd.

"Umm... I-I- I think we should umm... head off for a while, so as to umm... put as much distance between us and them."

Phyliss Ovida

Phyliss smiled at Trunfor. "Don't worry. I am sure we will be safe if we all stick together. Let us keep searching a little more. Maybe we find something appealing."

Trunfor Blackheart

"I`m not worried for myself, I`m worried for you."

Again he berated himself for acting so foolish

"What I means is, uh, well, uh." he sighed feeling like a complete idiot. "Ummm. n-nevermind."

He felt odd around her. Throughout his life he had never had any friendship or interactions with anyone. Specially not with females, so this was an entirely new experience for him and he felt very confused.

The gorgon stopped before a nice, two stored timber-house. A sign read "Ye olde serpent". "Now that is a nice tavern. Let us see if the name keeps what it proposes." She walked to the entrance for a closer inspection. Beside the entrance door was an openening for the inner courtyard. She looked inside, there were some benches under open sky and a stable.
"Oh no!!" she put her hands at her head and turned around to her friends. "We have completely forgotten about the horse!"

Trunfor Blackheart

OOC: Since DeathsKnight is away, I think his character could be the one who gets the horses. Once DeathsKnight returns, his character will as well.

Trunfor had forgotten that they had arrived into town on horses. He turned to Phyliss and Gryph, "Well do you know where they are? If their back at the city, they might still be their. We haven`t been gone that long gor anyone to think we might have left them."

Trunfor had no need for horses. They ate and drank too much, left messes for people to step in, and reeked to high heavens.

Phyliss Ovida

Phyliss looked over to Gryph. "In fact, it was only one horse, but I fear it will be gone by now. Even if not stolen, it maybe just walked away."

Gryph

"I will find out, but I'm pretty much sure that with the spirited nature he has it will be difficult to steal him"

He turned away from them, he walked down the street and reached out with his mind. The link he had with the horse it was easy to find him, the horse complained about being in a stable and wanting to come out. Gryph chuckled and then strode off, to find their mount

(OOC: OK listen guys if you want to catch up for the next two weeks, Belinda can control Gryph, because I'll be gone until Monday)

Trunfor Blackheart

Trunfor nodded at Gryph and watched as he left. He hoped that nothing bad would happen to him. When Gryph was gone, Trunfor turned backto Phyliss, "What now?"

Phyliss Ovida

"We will check out the inn. Without Gryph there is a bit less intimidation, but I managed to get rooms in such tavern in cities of this kind. They don't lynch you at places like that. Just let us see." Phyliss opened the door and walked in, looking very determinend and self-confident. Even if she wasn't, she knew how to play it.
