I like to express my opinions every so often, but the truth is I'm not the sharpest debater that was ever born. So I try to be sparing with political comments or views on other debated topics.

Quite a few political threads here, with many participants of varying intellect and wit. Some of you are so perspicacious it's frightening.

But I'm wondering if anybody's ever been able to change anyone else's mind here? Everyone seems to have their views so crisply defined. Then again, I haven't been here for all that long.

So...

Have you ever felt enlightnened by another's opposing viewpoint? Has someone else cast a doubt in your mind as to the soundness of your opinion? How do you handle it? Do you say as much or just abandon the thread?

Have you ever changed anyone's mind? Did they admit it?

perspicacious

I had to look that up. That is just so cool!

Have you ever felt enlightnened by another's opposing viewpoint?

Yes, I have. I've altered my views based on sound argumentation. Not often since the opposing debaters who can actually debate have moved on and left me with idiots like Donk.

Has someone else cast a doubt in your mind as to the soundness of your opinion?

Yes, but not for long.

How do you handle it?

Deny, deny, deny! Actually, I get pissy and then find a better way to shore up my position a day or two later.

Do you say as much or just abandon the thread?

I'm noted for my thread abandonment. I'll frequently start a thread and then just read it rather than post to it.

Have you ever changed anyone's mind?

Twice.

Did they admit it?

Yes. One in public, one in private.
