There was an article in this morning's paper about a 15-yr-old boy who only has a few months to live. Apparently, his last wish was to have sex.

edited to say I was a dope and didn't post the entire thing the right way so I took out the wrong ideas and added the proper ones below...read the REAL story a few posts down

that MAY be going a bit too far, but if it made their son happy, and it WAS with their blessings, then what can one do?

Then again, couldn't someone get in trouble for statutory rape? where was this at?

What I want to know is

:p

It's not like he was asking to go to Disneyworld or something like that. It's not a make a wish situation. Should they do everything they can as parents? Sure they should, if they love their son. But is getting a Prositute the best way? that's my point.

Sydney, Austraila

Ok the boy has since died...but apparently this sparked a huge ethical debate...oh...I also misread this...he COULD speak..he just did NOT tell his parents first. Chit...I should have reread the entire thing...his parents were NOT consulted...*smacks side of head*

"The boy (with terminal cancer), without speaking to his parents, had apparently told the staff at a Sydney hospital of his desire to lose his virginity.
........
The idea was rejected on legal grounds, but a group of friends were later allowed to escort the boy out of the hospital and take him to a prostitute in King's Cross......His parents were not consulted."

This was done WITH the psychologist's knowledge and approval...did he overstep his bounds?

Okay I am going to sound wierd, but I think it was a great thing to let him have sex,but couldnt there have been someone,a friend perhaps that would have sex with him? Why use a prostitute?

Hell, I say if he is old enough to die like a man

:p

A book

Joselyn Elders (sp?) comes to mind. A masturbation manual.

According to the paper, he had been in and out of hospitals since he was 12 so he didn't have many female friends.

they couldn't find a candy striper to slip into his room one night, and fuck him silly, for nothing?

The Phsychologist that knew would have claimed client/doctor privelige I'm sure. Are they responsible? Not in his/her mind.

This probably isn't something that most people would think about, but how would the stripper feel about that?

I'm just wondering if she let him have it for free. It would be the good thing to do. But, no, that's just to weird. I can't think about it anymore.

ya know, I, unfortunately, have known several people who bit the big one, due to cancer. various ages, though none as young as this kid. someone posted, suggesting that "a friend" could possibly help. I tell you, there aint no way, having seen what the Big C does.

So, they took him to a prostitute- they were damned good friends. when you need a pro, go to one. thats what the pros do-take care of business for anyone with the $.

they all did the right thing.

Happy Holidays to you all

I think the friends did the right thing. If that's what the kid wanted, then that's what he should get. I do believe the parents should have been consulted. If they are reasonable, I believe they would have gone along with it. After all, the kid was on his deathbed, why not let him experience the joy of sex atleast once?

I wonder if the reporter who wrote the article shown below...

I know I'm joining this discussion late. I've seen a couple articles on this situation, but I think this is the best one.

Thought long and hard before admitting that the kid had "shuffled off this mortal coil" (to quote the bard).

I am sure the reporter did...If only for the name they gave him in the story. Jack, a wonderful name in and of itself but in this context with the shufflin off, leads me to think he should have...

Done what he did.

I bet you thought I was going to say Jack Off didn't you, go on you can admit it, no one else will ever know, you did, didn't you?
