Dear company I work for,
I've put up with a lot in the last 4 years and I've not really said too much. I was hired when I was desperate and it seemed like a good, solid gig at the time, and for the most part it was. However, in the last year things have been going steadily down hill. First it was the hours going down, keeping me at the bare minimum for full time employment, but keeping me just busy enough that I can't take a second job. Then it was all the new BS you rolled out on this new customer service plan. I've got news for you- this is IMPOSSIBLE to do with just 2 people per shift, and I don't need a stupid handbook to explain it all. I've been offering this same level of service since I've worked for you. You should know. You've sent me two hand-signed letters of commendation for my dedication to my customers. Now you up the cost of the health insurance, which added another $40 to the total deductions from my pay each week. After 4 years of raises (the max percentage each time, because you said I deserved it) I'm now taking home LESS than I did when I was still at $9 and some change.

But the kicker- the real punch in the dick for me- came when I was called into the office and informed that I could not take off the week of Christmas (as I had had scheduled for the last 2 months) because you decided to move the vacation blackout to the week before. Then you said I could take the time, but it would be unpaid and I'd lose a full half a paycheck if I did. This was going to be my first holiday with my family in almost seven years. My mother was looking forward to it so much that it was practically all she talked about. How the hell am I supposed to tell her I have to cancel it?

I'm done guys- I'm totally fucking over it at this point. I'm putting out feelers and checking leads. Eventually, I'll find a job with a future- maybe even one where I'm appreciated. And when that time comes, I'm a ghost. You might even end up as only the second company I ever refused to give a notice to. Kudos- that takes talent!

Sincerely,
Your employee- NOT your bitch.

On that note:

Dear Supervisor,

I'm tired of knowing more about, and being better at, your job than you are. Please stop using "I have a meeting" as an excuse. I work more hours than you do and I don't get to eat lunch. You're the boss. Fucking act like it.

Signed,
The person who should have your job.

Dear little brother...
It must be nice to work full time, live w/ our parents, pay for almost NOTHING - no rent, no water, electric, or gas bills; no grocery bills, not contribute financially to the Internet, or tv bill, etc., not do your laundry, constantly eat out, come home and play video games, shower, and sleep.
What I do not understand is how selfish, and demanding you are. You seem incapable of doing anything on your own.
Yes I know you work late hours, but guess what you have a 24 hour day just like everyone else.
It makes NO sense for you to call mum, as you are on your way to the house and ask her to go buy you something to eat. You are more than capable of stopping at a restaurant on your way home, and you do this continually, at least twice per day.

The crazy part in all this, you've got mum convinced that you're tired and need your rest - which is why she is constantly doing things for you. That's not the case and you know it. You're tired not from "working" but b/c you stay up until the early morning hours playing video games.

The difference between you & me little brother is that I'm living here out of need, and you're living here out of greed. Further I contribute around the house via cooking, doing laundry, buying groceries, running errands, washing the dishes, cleaning etc., and yet I'm the one who is treated like I'm an inconvenience. I wish I knew what it was like to be so spoiled.

You might even end up as only the second company I ever refused to give a notice to. Kudos- that takes talent!

Your employee- NOT your bitch.

Virtually every state in the union has an "employ at-will" doctrine that works both ways. Just as the State can't "force" an employer to hire someone (or keep them employed), the State can't "force" an employee to continue working somewhere.

As an employer (not an owner, just one of the guys who has to interview and hire), receiving a two week notice is a nice thing and expected. At the same time, the owner of the company says (and this is not unique to him), "The moment someone gives a notice, take them off the schedule." It makes sense. What kind of work should you expect from someone with a short-timer attitude?

And that works in both directions. Fuck'em. Burn the hell out of that bridge if you think it's safe. Good luck with your search!

Dear cute little waiter at dinner the other day

You GF of 2 days is not "the one". Especially if she has a child too. You should have let Bluekitten shag your bones until your cute green eyes rolled into the back if your head.

The jaded lister.

Dear dog,

I know the world is dangerous, but when you f'ing yodel and cause our neighbors to call me at the hot tub, it makes me want to sell you to the mascara research company.

But I won't because you had a bad life. It would be difficult to find another dog with such low expectations that I am constantly rewarded with love.

That being said, quit f'ing yodeling you f'ing beagle.

Your Roomie

p.s. your breath is terrible. It's like you eat zombies and then don't floss.

Dear Spouse, roommate, whatever you wanna call yourself...

The last time I checked, the house INCLUDING the garage was OURS...not YOURS! You have the 2 walk in closets, including random closets thruout the house to accommodate your clothing, shoes, makeup, etc, etc...I have never balked , sulked or mandated about it....however...

the garage is something that I am not going to relinquish just to subdue you..
So, kindly get out of MY space....get rid of YOUR things that you want to get rid of and leave MY things out of your well manicured hands....

I know the garage sale is coming up and I better not see anything of MINE on the " For Sale" table.....otherwise, I shall proceed to find your finest , most beloved shoes and " give " them away......

***Size 7 designer shoes possibly available to the women of Lit, almost like new! ***

Wow, it would take a lot more to subdue me than a garage.

Very interested in excess shoes if you have any Finn Comforts or Mepshitos, I am a size 38/37 which is about a 7. Thanks ;)

Well, I'm in SC, and frankly we have pretty much no rights here. As a "right to work" state, generally if you give a notice they don't so much as take you off the schedule as outright fire you. As far as notice is concerned, I've always gone by the book on all but one of my jobs (the exception being a restaurant where they refused to give me my pay and where I was openly mocked by the manager for going to college). This one is pushing my patience though. It's a corporate situation, which is always bad news, and they just keep adding more and more BS to the pile every week. Over the course of the last year they've cut all our hours, raises, and over all benefits while increasing our workload and budgets (what we're expected to take in- not what we have available for the store). Apparently, the stock is soaring and the new CEO increased his income by more than 44%, but the customers are turning on us because the cuts have made it harder on them- longer lines, less one-on-one attention, etc. That's bad news when you work for a company that deals all but exclusively with senior citizens. Their answer to the problem was to institute a new customer service program that basically makes the aforementioned problems a termination worthy offense. It's just the old problem of people who never even set foot in our stores trying to have it both ways, and it's all going to come to a head soon, I think. I just want out before it happens, because I don't think it's going to end well. Also, with the new cuts and and crap for the first time in 4 years I didn't even make rent on my paycheck, so... Yeah...

Dear NP Preceptor with beyond morning sickness,

I love you, I do. You are compassionate, knowledgeable, and great to be around...when you are not dashing off to the toilet.

I'm not in my own home, I came here specifically to work with you in your FP setting, I don't know that many people here, & I do have goals that need to completed.

Not angry at you but I might have to go with the NP from hell and this totally fucks up my practicum experience.

Wishing I had just stayed home & picked some mundane practicum.
:(

Dear crazy friends (new and old) I met in Vegas this weekend,

THANK YOU!! I had the best weekend I've had in a very long time! I soooo needed that. I finally got the Vegas experience I never had.

Too much to drink, too little sleep, too much laughing, too little money won, too much sun, too little food...yeah best weekend every!

While today I'm exhausted and ready to nap already at 9am...I would do it all over again!

Hope everyone got home okay and thanks for not tagging me in any pictures on FB ;)

Signed,

Singing Taylor Swift's "Twenty-two" in my head all weekend - but waking up with the tired body of a 44 year old.

Dear sailor lister...

Bring me warm fresh bread and a lemon with my Diet coke. I'll let BK choose the special of the night.

Anytime lister

Dear Disappearing One
Three strikes and you're out buddy. Although I sincerely doubt at this point that you were ever in the game. Just another fucking asshat.

Signed,
Really here but moving on

Dear Century Link,
Let me make this clear. The fact I have spotty wireless connections has nothing to do with my modem or anything in my house. It is the fact that you morons do not want to invest the money to upgrade the connection box (or whatever you call it) for the neighborhood. This happens year after year after year...it is documented. Look at my F^*&^* file before you tell me it is basically my problem. If I had any other choice at all...any, I would have changed companies years ago.

Your annoyed customer (who lost connection at least 12 times tonight)

Dear Care giving friend,

I appreciate you giving up your own needs to be here to help me, you are one of my best friends, always there when someone is in need.

However, do you really need to use my shower, there are others in the house. It's not that I mind anyone using my shower, but you spray baby oil all over the shower and the floor and you don't bother to wipe it up. It almost took me out this morning, either use another bathroom or stop with the baby oil.

Your slip sliding friend

Dear Boss,

You're a son-of-a-bitch coward. So is your sister and your accountant. First, you wormed your way out of acknowledging X's workman's comp claim on a technicality and then tried to ease your conscious by offering her health insurance. Now that she's had both knees replaced and is ready to come back to work, you're telling me, "Don't. Find a reason not to let her come back to work. Too much of a liability."

Lovely. We've strung her along for three months, believing there would be a place for her and now? Oops... nope.... your performance wasn't good enough... sorry...

And who gets to deliver this news? Oh yeah, that would be me. And your reply when I suggested someone else should be on the phone with me (as a CYA move)? "You've got this. Just be careful."

Thanks, dick. Thanks a lot.

Dear fellow employee,

Though I have been on vacation this past week, I did check my email today (mainly to clean it out) and saw your comment that the instructions I gave you last week before I left, the ones I went over with you, were not the correct ones. As I am not at work for several more days I cannot attest to the veracity of your claim, but let me illuminate you on some issues I found with your message.

First, the document I gave you is, roughly, 21 pages long, 3/4 of which are nothing but pictures documenting what one would see if they read the directions. If we assume that they are not the correct directions, the fact that you couldn't figure out the described process on the piece of equipment which was different than what the instructions showed means you didn't bother to take the initiative to figure out if those instructions could point you in the correct direction to complete this brain-dead task.

Further, the fact that you had to go my supervisor who then had to go and find a manual with the correct instructions (again, assuming I did not give you the correct ones before I left) means you didn't bother to go the documentation library to see if the correct instructions were there. I had already given you the path to the instructions I suggested you use, I guess it never occurred to you to go back to the same location and see what else is there, despite me having told you about the reams and reams of documentation at this spot at least a dozen times.

Finally, you claim it took you two hours to realize the directions were not correct and that you wasted your time until you realized they weren't correct. If that is your claim then I can only say you're a complete and utter idiot Considering the shortness of the document, if it took you two hours to realize they were incorrect, there is no hope for you.

Be forewarned, like the last time you claimed the directions I gave you didn't work and when you walked through them with me watching over your shoulder they miraculously worked as I said they would, do not expect me to go out of my way any more if I find that I had given you the correct instructions, despite having to wait nearly two weeks for you to find 30 seconds to walk through them as they are nearly identical to ones I had given you previously for a similar piece of equipment a scant two weeks ago.

Not looking forward to returning to working with idiots

Dear Greatest Human Being I Will Ever Meet in my Life,

I miss you, and I'm going to keep missing you forever.

In the meantime I'll do my best not to make too much of a hatchet job of what I've got left.

Until tomorrow
