dear laurel

Dear Laurel,

I did something to my hamstring this morning while running. It hurts.

Love,
Mona

Dear iman,

Why are you islandman? Were you born on an island? Or do you have an island thing, like Johnny and ships?

Love,

Laurel

Dear ltr,

It's not wrong. It's so very right.

And, toast is good! Or go straight to whiskey.

Love,

Laurel

Dear kotori,

I'm all out of clowns. Can I send the tattooed ex-con halfwits who assemble the rides instead?

Love,

Laurel

Dear Noor,

Keep looking! You'll find it. :rose:

Dear Rob,

That is so wrong. :D

My favorites are Shartnado and Robocow.

Also The Cunt of Monte Cristo.

And Ferris Bueller's Gay Off.

Dear Mona,

Sorry to hear that! Unfortunately, the only thing you can do for that is wait for it to heal. That means no running. A friend of mine kept running on a torn ligament and ended up seriously effed up.

Love,

Laurel

Dear Laurel,

I ate at a really bad Korean restaurant today. Can you make it so I don't get food poisoning? Many thanks.

I'm in Oregon for three days and I come back to this??

What... just...

As GB Moderator, you know I don't ask for much. It would be denied, anyway.

Dear Laurel,

Please send me a thing to smite.

I promise to smite it.

Love and devotion,
Byron

Dear Byron,

There are so many targets. Smite away!

Laurel
Dear Laurel,

Your blessing means a lot to me.

I know everyone's IP address, although they don't know that I do.

But I intend to sit on the information until Morwen comes back and says some sort of radical shit that reminds me I'm alive.

Love,
Byron

P.S. Does being attracted to lesbians make me less of a man?

Dear Laurel,

What are souls worth these days?
If someone owns it, do they have to pay tax on it?

Noor, sleep deprived among other deprivations.

Dear Byron,

Lots of us know IP addresses as well as other identifying information but we'd never mention it unlike the NSA who can't seem to keep their secrets to themselves.

Don't most men like watching lesbians have sex? Isn't that like a man thing?

~Noor, who might be sort of asleep

Dear Laurel,

I need a hug. :(

Sometimes life gives you lemons.

Also, I really shouldn't drink coffee.

Love,

Smiley.

Dear Laurel,

Aye, I am an island-person by birth. White sand beaches, sub-tropical weather with the Southern Cross overhead.

Yours in knowledge,

islandman

Dear Laurel,

Let's try to guess. I'll pick Mauritius.

Another island fan,

Adre

P.S I've always wanted to visit the Seychelles, which are in the same neighborhood I think.

Dear Laurel,

It irks me that Boxlicker101 can't be put on iggy. While you - or other powers that be - have decided to make him/her mod, I can just as easily abide by his/her administration of the boards without having to subject myself to the garbage that comes out of his/her mouth. He/She detracts from my Lit. experience.

Regards,

islandman

Dear smiley,

Woah trippy and very very cool. You always find cool ear/eye candy.

Dear Adre,

I'll pick Iceland. I've always wanted to go there.

Oh yeah - sand, not ice.

Hmm.

Vanuatu?

Love,

Laurel

Dear Sinny!

Yay! That means more Korean BBQ! :D

Dear islandman,

I understand and sympathize. Once we're able to fully upgrade the forum - which we can't do until other stuff is upgraded in prep for improvements on the story side - then we'll be able to allow Moderators to be ignored.

In the meantime, it's a tricky situation because Moderators are basically users who are volunteering their free time to move spam off the forums. They get no perks or special powers, no salary, just our gratitude.

The problem is that it's pretty hard to find someone who is willing to take on these chores - for no apparent benefit - who is also universally and totally loved. If I were to remove every Moderator who a user or users has requested to be able to ignore, every moderator would be gone - including myself.

Like I said, eventually Moderator ignore will be a thing. Until then, it would be really great if you could use the old fashioned traditional Ignore: not read his threads and posts.

Sorry I can't be of more help.

Love,

Laurel

Dear Laurel,
Are you familiar with
AdminCP -> vBulletin Options -> User Profile Options -> Allow Users to 'Ignore' Moderators

Affectionately,
Rob (former vBulletin admin on two other boards)

For complicated reasons, we can't use that right now. Once story-side stuff is disentangled from forum-side stuff, and we upgrade, we will be able to do so.

Fair enough, I figured this board is so large that you've got all sorts of customizations to make it run efficiently. Guess we'll have to "take one for the team" and ignore Grandpa Kiddy Diddler in the political threads.

p.s. I like how you worked in a parody of Miles' trademark excuse why he can't get divorced and live happily ever after with his current Lit conquest... "For complicated reasons, we can't....".

Dear Laurel,

you could solve this problem by simply making me a mod. I'm universally loved and there could be no possible cause for complaint.

S.
