Anyone else a believer in the paranormal?

Personally I have always believed in ghosts, etc. I've gone on a few ghost hunts myself and walked away with some experiences I can't explain. I was wondering if any Litsters had any TRUE stories. Feel free to come on by and hang out! I'd love to swap some stories!

The last time I went on a ghost hunt was a few weeks ago. I went with a good friend of mine from high school. We went to a cemetery in one of the local towns and as soon as we got there, our equipment started acting up.

We walked out with some evidence that night despite the fact we didn't stay nearly as long as we wanted to. We got chased out by dive bombing bat who made it very clear we weren't wanted there. My friend captured a weird photo of light shining into the area where all the equipment was going off, but it was dark as hell that night.

I walked out with an audio clip of a breath that was not myself nor was it my friend. We were alone in the cemetery that night.

About 25 yrs ago, when I was in college, some friends of mine decided to dabble in the occult. Although I think most of it was bullshit, I DO think that the main guy (call him S) fucked with some things he shouldn't have. As the resident skeptic, I was always on the fringe of things, but even I felt that there were forces at play beyond mortal man.

Near the college were 3 cemeteries, all on the same block. In the middle cemetery, was a roundabout, with grass in the middle. Because it was equally distant from all streetlights, it was usually pitch black, and earned the nickname "The Dark Heart". College kids loved playing in these cemeteries, drinking, tag, etc. One night S had the bright idea to hold a "ritual" in the Dark Heart. Although I thought it was a horrible idea, I went along, mainly to keep an eye on things.

So there we were, the 7 of us, holding hands while he recited a chant. Suddenly, the wind picks up when it had been still, and I see a dark shape moving just at the periphery of the traffic roundabout. I can see this shape, even though it is almost total darkness. It is blacker than the night. I'm not the only one that sees this shape moving on the edges. Finally, 2 or 3 of us break the circle, and we call it a night before the "ceremony" is finished. I don't know what it was, but it scared the crap out of me.

I left that group shortly thereafter. I know some other weird shit went down, but I wasn't a part of it. I just know that the occult scares me. ::eek:

Damn! I don't blame you there. There's enough spirits in the world without having to INVITE them into our world. I don't blame you.

And ultimately, it was all about a girl. He won her hand, then proceeded to abuse her, physically and mentally, steal from her, rape her, and stalk her after they broke up. The last I heard he was in jail in Colorado for burglary and stalking another woman. :(

I lost my Grandfather six years ago. A couple of weeks after he had passed, I was stood in the kitchen. I saw something out of the corner of my eye and turned to see my Grandad looking at me, a small smile on his face and years younger in appearance. I almost dropped the glass I was washing up and turned away briefly, absolutely shocked. When I turned back, he was gone but for some reason, I had this feeling of not being alone right at this moment.

I don't usually believe in ghosts and people could argue I was just imagining things but it felt like he came back to say he was okay after he had suffered a long, painful death.

I mean let's face it, a lot of what men do is for a girl. Fuck guys like that. Get the pretty girl and then be a dick to her. Glad to hear Karma is doing it's part. He is right where he belongs!

I can totally believe that. After my grandfather died, I totally expected to see him again. It's been years, but I still think he will show up when I least expect it. As far as him disappearing as quickly as he appeared, he was just checking on the living. Like you said, he was letting you know he was okay!

I'm intrigued by the thoughts of spirits, ghosts, demons but personally I don't believe in it. I'll wait for the proof but it'll never happen.
I'd love to be part of a Ouija board thingy in a cemetery or old "haunted" place though

One thing I will never do is use a Ouija board. Like I said earlier, there's enough spirits in the world without inviting them here. You never know what you are inviting in.

Now you want me to play with one ;)

I used to work on a World War II Battleship as a tour guide. My last shift at that job was to take a group of local ghost hunters on the ship to make sure no one got lost.

I was with about 10 people in the Executive Officer's quarters. We were doing an EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomenon) session. That's where you record audio and ask questions, hoping to hear something you didn't hear with your ears when you record.

One woman asked "If there is anyone here, please give us a sign of your prescence." As soon as she asked, I felt a tap on my left shoulder. There was no one to my left and I wasn't near the wall. There was someone to my right, but he's part of the team so I doubt he would have done it to fake evidence.

I immediately screamed "I just got touched!" I had been a part of many ghost hunting investigations but that was the first time I was physically touched by something I couldn't see.

I know Tallulah82 has a ghost that makes a LOT of noise on her house. I'll tell her to come share her experience when I see her.

With a Ouija board? Nope. I've heard too many bad stories.

I'm intrigued but believe it's all in the unconscious mind. With all these ghost hunters & such the last few decades you think some kind of proof would be out there.
I love horror movies so the thought of getting an evil spirit to present itself with a Ouija board sounds like fun :)
I'll have my dobie girl with me so she'll chew it's ass if need be ;)

But see, that's the thing. There is proof out there. The problem is it's all debatable. It's the same thing with Bigfoot type creatures. We are discovering new creatures every single day in the oceans and in the woods because so little of the Earth has been explored.

I'm going to probably make myself look more stupid than I already do but I kind of believe the odd Bigfoot COULD exist in the deepest, darkest areas of Alaska and the Pacific North West. Maybe it's because I want to believe though.

People have reported seeing them here in the UK, but I can't see that. There's simply no gigantic spaces where they could live undiscovered, save for perhaps the Scottish Highlands.

There's nothing stupid about that belief. Almost every single culture has some story of a Bigfoot type creature. There's got to be a reason why.

Absolutely. It'd be awesome to think of something huge out there that has managed to be scientifically discovered for a long time.

Like the bigger subspecies of the Chimpanzee, the Bili ape. They're a relatively new discovery. They're larger and have been observed even hunting leopard in the forest of Africa.

Now I'll shut up and let people get the thread back on track.

Species like Bigfoot qualify as the paranormal. It's anything out of normal realm. And since you don't see Bigfoot at your local zoo, I think it counts. Plus it's my thread! So yeah! it fits with the topic
