an old tree fell in the road and cut off about half of it about twenty minutes ago. i called them as soon as i noticed and now they're here taking care of it. i'm honestly shocked. these assholes are usually slower than shit. good job, public works peoples.

sure, the cynic in me wants to make note of the fact that there's an election right around the corner, but good job anyway. now maybe you guys can pick up the leaves you were supposed to pick up a week ago? huh? sound good?

My street is still dirt. It gets potholes.
Because I hate having to drive over potholes, I often go down and dig up base from the side of the road and fill in the holes myself.
The road started to get really bad, so I rang the council. I asked them if they could come fix our road, and they told me they were scheduled to come and do it in late November.
So I then asked if they could at least dump a load of roadbase and then I could keep filling in the holes.
The guy I was talking to was shocked to learn it was me who had been filling in the potholes, because he'd assumed it was the council roadworkers doing a quick fill-in as they came past.

Two days later the entire road was resurfaced

I hate the potholes.
One of our cars is extremely low - and if I hit a pothole, I often scrape the catalytic converters and mufflers on the dirt.
So I usually have a bucket and small spade in the boot to stop and grab some base and fill in the holes.

Now, I should get a few months before I have to do it again.

I wish I could be as complimentary about the council guys who take care of the vegetation.
Unfortunately, the last time they came and cleaned up (only last week) they set fire to a stand of pines when they burned the pile of stuff they'd cleaned up, and the firies had to come fix their fuckup before it got completely out of control.
