I think public speaking makes a lot of people nervous. From what little that I know about you, I think you seem like a very confident and intelligent person, so I'm a little surprised that even someone like you can get nervous about public speaking, but it must be a common fear. I think you'd handle it better than me! Giving presentations is the worst. Is that part of your job description? I minored in German in college (which I have forgotten most of due to not using it for a long time), and some of my most nerve-wracking experiences were giving presentations in a language that I didn't know very well. We had some Europeans who were completely fluent taking the course for the easy A, and they rightfully snickered. The professor simply corrected my word choice. I'm still good friends with someone I met while taking that course, and he still makes fun of that mistake to this day, lol. I thought that you'd find that anecdote appropriate for your thread! And now you know a couple of new German words if you didn't already know them.
Strangely enough I am somewhat immune to public performances when it comes to music. I was in band in high school and was really serious about it. I played solos a number of times by myself in front of hundreds of people at concerts, and it was no big deal. But I think it helps me to have an instrument become my voice instead of using my actual voice. It's just different.
