My life has taken a lot of twists and turns over the past few years. I'm 41 years old. Recently divorced. Trying to get my life back on track. Part of that process has been getting back in shape.

I'm very self-conscious about my body. I've never liked the way I look. I'm not saying that in order to garner any sympathy or because I'm fishing for compliments. I say this because it takes a lot of courage for me to post this simple picture. To be sure, I've slimmed down quite a bit. I've lost a lot of body fat while at the same time gaining a lot of muscle. There's still a lot of room for improvement and I welcome any comments, even critical comments. I'm a big boy, so I can take whatever you've got coming to me. Anyway, here's the picture:

Over the years I've developed a very negative perspective on my body. I'm short, being only 5'7. I think I have too much body hair. My penis is too small. I can't seem to lose the belly fat. I need to build even more muscle. It's like I can't see the progress I've made. Like seriously...I can't. Does anyone else feel like that?

Congratulations on the transformation and the change for a healthier future! Shedding belly fat is hella difficult for anyone and everyone! (Why don't you think there are so many ads for quick fixes?) It is a struggle for everyone.

Good luck and welcome to Lit

There will be good workout days and not so good ones. The best thing you can do is never ever quit. Keep going. You can have a rest and recovery day when you need one but always return to your workout. Over time you will learn the difference between muscle fatigue and muscle discomfort. Push past discomfort so you can get to fatigue ( but don’t push with an injury

Getting in shape is a great long term investment for your health both physical and mental.
We all want something we don't have that's why women get boob jobs, their hair colored the list goes on and one.
You don't need a big cock these pages will convince you that you could never make a woman happy without one which is b.s.
I get the body hair but it's way faster to handle that than staying in shape.
Work towards positive affirmations about yourself and you will find yourself in a much better place.
Good luck!

Progress not perfection.
Try to remember that it took decades for you to get to where you were before you took the initiative to turn it all around. While it won’t take as long to undo it, it won’t happen overnight.
It is darkest right before dawn. Don’t quit now my friend.

Exercise is only half of you battle.

What you feed your body is even more crucial.

The older I get the more I realise that some foods that was accustomed to only a few years prior now make me bloat.

You can get the body you want - but requires discipline.
