First and foremost- Happy Father's Day to all the gentlebeasts out there.

What's one piece of advice that your dad (or a man who you think of as a dad) passed on to you that has helped you out?

I was taught by my dad to always have three "exits". Straight ahead, behind me, and off to the side. It was first given to me as a way to drive defensively and it's also just a really BAMF life skill. Giving myself options before I need them can be really helpful.

Review your options and sleep on it before making a decision. Really useful for impulsive me!

My Dad was very wise and always had some words of wisdom to give. Sometimes they were funny, sometimes they weren't but always taught something.
It's hard to think of which one to share.
Okay here is one, "no matter how beautiful she may be, some guy is tired of her"
" if you aren't getting rejected you aren't asking enough women on a date"
"It's better to keep your mouth shut and be thought the fool, than open your mouth and remove all doubt"
"Get in front of the ball, and stop it, with your glove or your body"
" It's gonna hurt, but only for a little while"
"If the coach asks which position do you play, your tell him all of them"
"Don't ever let anyone put their hands on you. If they try or do, you knock their fucking teeth out"
That's a pretty good selection from the list of Phil-isms

Oh! One more.
"Your brother is twice your size why do you always piss him off?"

This thread might need a bump.

My Dad’s was ‘The best deals are the ones where both sides are pretty sure they came out best’
