Da Pumpkin solution!!!

This has provided a permanent solution for me and the pumpkins. its a lot but they have never come back to me again.


a. Go to the main BB page where you see all the different forums you can go to.

b. go down to the bottom right corner and log out

c. go to a different web site

d. go to {at the top of your browser} tools/internet options

e. choose delete files

f. goto start button/programs windows explorer

g. goto windows then find cookies.

h. delete all cookies.

i. close windows explore, browser, internet connection.

j. do a full windows reboot.

k. log back on to the internet.

l. go to lit.

m. go to the bottom of the main page and login.

Been there, done all that and mine still come back...I think I am being haunted by the Great Pumkin...

did you make sure you logged out of lit, i didnt the first 3 times and they reappeared, the 4th time i made sure to log out and ever since mid november no pumpkins.

logging out is a key i think, something to do with the lit cookie itself.

Yes I did, but then again I am also having trouble downloading forms from the IRS page too...not enough memory and I just dumped everything non important from my puter...

Hell, I'm gettin to like them. It's kinda fun to see when they will pop up next. They are not there always and when they do pop up I figure it's time to delete my temp files again. I don't know maybe I'm crazy(No, I'm not(Yes I am)).

What would truely and simply work is for either the master or mistress of this wonderful place to replace the page where the image is stored with just the regular BB logo,,, no pumkins, no hearts, no flags, no nothing but a plain banner.

We did that, two months ago. Dunno why you all are still seeing pumpkins. Your browser must've cached that image and won't let it go.

I have rebooted my computer twice since installing a new modem and I still see the same pumpkins that were there since the Halloween season.

Quit my internet provider.
Opened IE5
Deleted temporary internet files.
Cleared history.
Ran Norton Cleansweep.
Cleared cache
Deleted cookies.
Rebooted.

Result.

Just tried deleting Lit' from my 'favourites', just in case the image was stored thru there. First time I logged on , fine.
Second time, there they were, the bats and the gravestones.

A quirk in IE

Isn't it a pain? I learned with one of the web sites I maintain that this peculiar thing is a problem with Internet Explorer. You shouldn't have it if you try using Netscape. If it's the same problem it has to do with "cached" pages. The browser thinks the page hasn't changed so it uses a cached version to speed things up. I tried lots of things, but always had the same experience as the rest of you although I haven't had the Charlie Brown syndrome (you know...pumpkins).

You might go into IE and tell it to always refresh pages, delete the history, and use NU Clean Sweep to wipe the temp files. It usually works for me...not always.

If nothing works well, when you have lemons make lemonade or, in this case, pumpkin pie!
