Da Pumpkin solution!!!

Sorry Mistress, I wondered if that might happen.

When I clicked on the Lit' logo (with pumpkins) and then right clicked for properties, it said,

http://www.literotica.com/forum/images/bbtitle.gif

Which is what I pasted in.

You obviously saw a different image.
So does that mean all the various versions of the Lit' logo have the same gif name ?

Myrrdin my guess is that your browser have stored it somewhere on the harddrive in the temporary internet files, so each time you go to the site, it loads it from there, and not from the site.

Another way to delete all those files are to, if you have a windows based computer:

click the start button

select "search" and then "files or folders"

type in "*.tmp" in the top field

in the bottom field select "my computer" and then click search

when it's done, in the field below the search fields there will be listed several files, select all of those files (move your cursor there and click just once, and then press the "Ctrl" + "A" keys at the same time) and after that hit the delete button.

I can't promise it'll do the trick, but it's worth a try.

There are also some settings in the browser that you can fiddle with, but where to set them depends on what kind of browser you use.

This is what adorns all our pages.

I'm not sure waht is different in my IE5 settings from those of you who still have pumkins. Under Internet Otions/General Tab/Temporary Internet Files, click the settings button. I have "check for newer versions of pages" set to "automatically."

I had the pumkins during October, but never saw the snowmen. I did see the Santa cap on the site's main page.

For some reason, those who see pumpkins have some setting in IE5 which tells it that the pumpkins is the most current image. There is one copy of that image on the site somewhere, and when you encounter it, the pumkins return.

The image should be named bbtitle.gif and can be found by clicking the "files" button on the general tab on internet options, along with the file date, when it was updated, and other information. Since the temporary internet files are "hidden files", the find files function won't find the image. (There should be four copies on your system because of some esoteric scheme used to store the temporary internet files in directories with random names.)

Once the temporary Internet files are purged, IE5 should download the correct image and store it until it encounters a newer version than the one dated 06/15/00 Once it does, then that is considered the "correct image."

Since I can't seem to find the one with pumkins, those of you who can see it need to figure out what page is calling the one with pumpkins so Laurel can remove it.

Well Shyguy's method worked for me.
Although there was no tmp file that specifically referred to Lit' or gifs. They were nearly all to do with icq or aim.
By shifting them all to the recycle bin , the pumpkins have gone.
01-08-01.
Theyre back!!!!!:(

Logging out, going to another site, deleting temp' internet files, history, cache, cookies etc and rebooting, will rid me of the pumpkins for that day.

But the following day as soon as I go to any page powered by vBB, they return.
I think the little critters title is,

bbtitle.gif a 3kb ART image last modified 30/10/00. (It's not a tmp file)

Which IE5 recognizes as the most up to date image.
My settings are set to seek new copies of stored pages automaticaly.

You mean I missed the snowmen???? Oh wait...looking out front window..there they are, daddy snowman, mommy snowman and baby snowman...Not saying anything cause I haven't had the orange things pop up in a few days...

Mother fucking pumpkins!!! I've been pumpkin free for almost 2 days, and now those bastards are back!

I was on page 1 of the general board, clicked on the link for the main board page, then hit the back button to get back to the general board. That's what did it. FUCK! Now I have to hunt down the fucking files and cookies and get rid of them again. I really hate pumpkins!
