While posting only 9-stories, I have received several emails on each story. Best part, only positive feedback, with a request for more stories, one lady wanted to be my lady in the story, another lady got "daddy" fantasies.

I really appreciate the emails. I am still trying to get feedback from the "twins", no, not the Coors twins (but I am available to them).

Laura and Lisa, right? Here's hope I will get it oneday...lol

How does an author measure the success of a story? I still review voting once a week and use emails as a tool. Will I learn differently?

I have replied to all feedback so far (though it has only been ten). My story has been sitting at the same number of votes for a few days now. At this rate, I don't think it will even have enough votes to qualify for the monthly contest (not that it has a chance of winning anyway.)

The feedback has been mostly from men, though I believe I have gotten three from women.

As I've said before...

Whenever I post a story I get loads of feedback. Generally positive feedback, I might add. As time goes on the feedback on that story will drop off to one or two per week. But I do get continuous feedback on all my stories. This, however, is usually of the "Your Story Was Hot. Wanna Fuck?" variety. Most of those are guys who never even read the story, but are surfing the member lists looking at pics. Assholes!!

When I first post a new story, I'll get about ten Feedback messages over the first few days; then it drops off to a trickle over the next few weeks, and then nothing unless a new story causes someone to go back and read my previous stories; then the reader will comment on all the stories.

I got the most Feedback on my first story; I believe it was other writers giving me encouragement on my first submission, which was nice. Also, I had a picture posted at that time on my profile. Some of the Feedback was about my picture and not the story, so I took the picture off and the Feedback declined markedly. When I went back to post a new picture to my profile, it wouldn't work, so I still don't have my picture. I know that if I'm ever able to post my picture again, I'll get more Feedback.

I have to say that I've only gotten positive Feedback on my stories. I get Feedback from both men and women; the men like the sex and the women like the romance. I swear I'm not stereotyping - that's just the way it works out!

Ya know, I read a lot of crying about no feedback. If you want more feed back you need to ask the reader. It is not a name, gender thing, or a picture thing. All that generates is that unwanted feedback as DS and Jenny tried to explain.

Just because your story has ended. This does not mean you can no longer express a meaning to the reader. After many of my stories I do not beg but explain why feedback is important to me. What the reader could give me in simple terms if they like the story to allow improvements or what they did not like. I will normally also make comment if you send an address or Lit name I will respond asap.

Another ploy I use is when writing a story I will pick a certain word and use it wrong or spell it in the wrong form. Like "Seamen" what an ocean of feedback that generated. Along with my humor came many good ideas for future stories and some real insight.

I actually spell several words wrong on purpose and uncorrect them in Word, along with the use of rather uncommon words like vacuum, picket fence, bugs. I place this in the folder that holds that story on my pc or disk. This is so later on I can search my stories very easily to find if they have been stolen or placed on other sites without my permission. (Like that never happends)

Yup, it's like I said - It's the males that do 'Search for literotica members' profiles, and only select females with a pic and submissions' .. Gives 'em something to look at whilst they're stroking, as it were..

Doesn't necessarily increase your views to feedback ratio, but it does increase your views in total, which will obviously have a cummulative effect on the feedback totals.

I've gotten feedback on virtually everything I've put up, but it is always a surprise past the first couple days. Of course, i'm a guy, so nobody wants to sex me.

On the other hand, almost all the feedback i've gotten has been from women. It's been uniformly positive. in fact, i've only recieved one negative, and my reading of it was more they didn't like me for some reason than any valid complaint about the story.

But I haven't sent much myself. I don't think it appropriate to use feedback to hit on someone, and it takes a long time to prepare real constructive feedback as in a workshiop situation, time i do not have. But Onyx has convinced me that I should send feedback more often, because it's proof you have been read, rather than just clicked on.
