His fingers ran over her cheek and down her neck as she spoke. When she was finished he kissed her neck and lay next to her his eyes running up her form until he met her eyes. He smiled at the look she gave him.

“No I have not, I have no doubt someone will make me aware in due time however if you are worried I will investigate this evening. first of all I will need to ensure you get your rest.”

Gently he kissed her then took her hips and rolled her over, once she was comfortable he deftly began to undo the bodice that she wore on top of her underwear. She looked at him quizzically and he looked at her with soft eyes, pausing in the middle of loosening the ties on the back of her bodice..

“Trust me, I wish nothing inappropriate, I merely wish to use the skills I possess to ease your pain, do you trust me Kanya?”

"I don't want to put you out of your way, i was just curious if the story i told worked" She winced as he flipped her over on her stomach and looked at him wide eyed as he began to undo her bodice.

For the first time with him a bit of fear took over as he began to loosen the ties of the bodice. His eyes softened as he looked at her. It wasn't the look of lustful intentions as Flourentine had possessed. She had to remind herself that this was Velten. When he spoke to her his voice was soft. He asked her the most important question and she found she knew the answer immediately.

"I trust you with my life, my honor, and my heart." she replied

He nodded as she acquiesced, it was the first time she had expressed her trust in him and she did not pause to think, it made him smile. he continued to untie the bodice until he could carefully slip it over her head. Once this was done he gently slipped her bed shirt so her bare back was presented to him.

He growled slightly at the scars and bruises that adorned her back then rubbed his hands together. His skin would not be warm however his hands were soft. He laid them on her skin and slowly began to run them across her skin, they rubbed and kneaded where they could, down her spine and across her shoulders.

“This should help with the recovery somewhat.” He concentrated then an invisible energy that traveled over his body and started to pulse from his hands and cover Kanya’s back

“This may feel strange, it is not usually done on humans.”

He continued his ministrations looking at her expression to see the effect of his hands on her body as they travelled up and down her back.

Kanya took a deep intake of breath when she first felt his hand on her bare back. She heard his growl as he eyed the bruising and marks across her flesh. A vibration of current traveled through her muscles relieving a great deal of the pain.

Her whole body began to go limp as he performed his healing technique over her. She smiled softly to him as her eyes started to flutter and the overwhelming desire to sleep took present. The pain had taken its toll upon her and the relief of it allowed her to drift into a deep slumber.

When she awoke she was under the covers still on her stomach. But her shirt was down and bodice tied loosely. Her hand reached over to his side of the bed and it was empty. She didn't know what time of day it was. Just that she felt a great deal better then she had.

Slowly she made her way out of the bed and on to her feet. Her legs were wobbling slightly as she made her way to his door and opened it. The house was quiet as she made her way to the banister. "Maria" she called. Her maid quickly appeared scolding her for being out of bed. "Please fetch me some food i'm quite famished."

Velten slumbered peacefully in the tomb he had built beneath the mansion, he had left Kanya’s bed when she had fallen asleep, lowered her shirt and retying her bodice to preserve her modesty. Remembering her words to check on the fate of Florentine he had gone to find where he was kept and ascertain whether Kanya’s story had been taken as fact. He had made his way to the to jail where he was being held and used his status to talk with the chief officer, a man name Henry Edmonds. He was offered a seat and Edward enquired about Alexander.

“Ah yes, the raving lunatic who fancies himself a nobleman.” He said dryly, waving his hand in the direction of the cells, as if to drive his point home a frenzied yell drifted from somewhere in the building.

“The doctor visited us recently to give the statement of the kidnapped lady in question, I understand she is in your care for the time being?”

Velten nodded. “As I am the one who rescued her she feels she will be in a more stable mental state at my side, it will help with healing the trauma from her experience. “

Henry nodded. “Well said m’lord, no as to your enquiry he is to be tried for the kidnap, torture and assault of Lady Saint Claire amongst various other accusations which apparently include treason to the king.” He squinted at a piece of paper.

“Yes officer, as I understand it he is under the delusion that the king is some kind of demon hellbent on taking over the world.” Velten chuckled for effect and to his relief the officer followed suit.

“Would you like to speak to him M’lord?”

“No that will be fine Mr Edmonds, I’ll be on my way.”

He made a note to give this information to Kanya when he awoke, he looked out at the sea as his carriage carried him back to his residence. The sun would rise soon, he was slightly saddened by the fact he could not share the daylight hours with Kanya except in his own house and at the expense of much energy on his part. Finally he arrived home and walked down to his tomb covering it to block out the light he fell asleep.

He awoke in darkness as usual and dragged the stone from it’s resting place blinking as the dim candlelight hit his eyes. He stretched and made his way upwards to see how Lady Saint Claire fared after the previous night.

Kanya had awoken mid day and found that she felt much better then she had previously. Whatever technique he had used on her gave her the opportunity to rest soundly and without the interference of nightmares. '

She took periodic naps while she waited for him to join her. Sitting up reading a book she eyes lit up as a smile went across her face when he entered. "Her appetite is back mi lord" Maria told him as she picked up the tray and exited leaving them alone.

"The treatment you gave to me has made me feel much better. I slept quite soundly and find myself quite on the mend. How was your evening? When i awoke last night you weren't here. Maria brought me my meal and i went right back to sleep"

She left out the part about getting out of bed to avoid his scowl. The safeness she felt in his presence was noted in her mind in such a way that his absence left her feeling a void.

Velten smiled as he entered, glad to see that Kanya’s mood had improved, he sat next to her on the bed and stroked her cheek before kissing her tenderly.

“I apologise for my absence, it is impossible for me to sleep during the night as you no doubt know from your extensive studies. My evening was uneventful but informative, I spoke to the chief officer at the jail who informed me that Alexander Florentine is to be tried in a few days and is accused of treason kidnap and torture.”

He forced himself to keep his emotions in check as he growled the last word then his eyes met hers and his mood softened.

“I am sorry my lady, he is to be tried and the danger has passed, for now we have other matters.” He looked at her and a devilish grin played across his face.

“Your parents arrive tomorrow evening to see to your wellbeing and how you fair under my care, it is my wish that I ask them for your hand in marriage, I wish to tell you this first.”

He paused as his brow furrowed, suddenly unsure of himself then his face returned to its usual expression.

“I wish to tell you first so that you may have the chance to tell me whether you wish to go through with this marriage. I can tell you that I do not wish to be apart from you, you are beautiful, smart and strong. If you do not wish to be married I would request that you at least stay with me as long as you can.”

He took her hand and kissed the back of it gently.

Her eyes stayed with his studying him as he told her about the eventual fate of Flourentine. Then he went on and spoke of her families impending visit. She partially sneered until he mentioned that he would be asking her father for her hand in marriage. Her eyes opened widely as it took her by surprise. He then continued letting her know she had a choice and just simply wished to be by her side for as long as possible.

She had allowed the idea of marrying him to briefly enter her mind. There was no other man that she would even consider. The idea of being parted from him pained her. For a few moments she remained silent as she considered the words he had said.

Her hand reached up and stroked his face with love and tenderness. "I will marry you, but i can't always promise that i'll obey" she said with a smirk.

He smiled as she accepted his offer, her warm hand on his face, he closed his eyes savoring the feeling of her skin on his. He opened his eyes and looked into hers as he spoke, smiling at her jibe.

“My lady, I would not have you any other way.”

He leaned over and kissed her before he spoke once more.

“We will need to prepare for your parents arrival, have Maria help you choose some attire tomorrow and I will ensure that dinner will be to your parents standards. I will announce my intent to marry you then we will set a date. From there we will discuss other such matters such as location, food and other such things.”

He took her hand and kissed it

“My beautiful Kanya, you have made me happier than you can imagine.”

Kenya smiled and stroked his face lightly. "Making you happy is the greatest gift you could give me" she said softly.

The next day the house buzzed as Velten slept. Cooks were recruited to make a dinner fit for a king, and Kenya was busy being measured for her dress for the evening.

Soon the sun set and he was up to manage the remaining details. Each day she felt a little stronger. But a wheelchair was still provided on the first floor so she didn't over extend herself.

When her parents arrived her mother went about making a fuss over the grandeur of his home once again. Of course she fainted the concern over her daughters welfare but couldn't have been more pleased that she was under the care of Lord Velten.

She was glad that Velten stayed by her side most of the night. She couldn't bare enduring her parents enthusiasm on her own.
