could anyone advise me on the specifics of why a story i tried to submit is being sent back?

I just submitted my Winter Holiday story and one of the major themes is Memories. My 27 year old MFC wakes on Christmas morning in her old bedroom at her mom’s house. She hasn’t lived there in years.

On a shelf are ‘The Toys of Christmas Past’ - Beanie Baby cats, a doll, etc

It would be ironic if I got rejected for that by some AI checker, especially if it might get approved if the ‘toys’ were BDSM toys instead!
I have a story in which the twenty-something FMC dresses up as a school girl (the costume is from a sex store and so non-realistic) and holds a teddy bear. But, she is definitively established as being in college and the fact that she is role playing is emphasized multiple times. She acts like her age, and her inner thoughts are clearly adult ones.

As always, it can often depend not just on what you write, but on how you write it. If the text couches a character as child-like, that’s a big problem. I wouldn’t want to write that way myself. I’m comfortable with the 18+ requirement, it allows me to tell the stories I want to tell.

i got the story posted. i didn't know i was meant to update this thread. i'm sorry

You didnt have to. You were fine.
Didn't have to, no, but people appreciate hearing whether their advice had any effect. If nothing else, it helps us understand what to advise people if the same issue comes up again later.
