Corset Question?

Im going on a little journey, all on my lonesome. This one is something ive wanted to do since i first saw one in a old black and white film. I need a corset. I want a proper one, as id like to corset train myself. (yes, i know someone is going to have to lace it up).
So im getting a boned one.
Money is an issue for me, so the on line shopping thing is, lets face it, soooo much cheaper. But the dowfall is i cant try it on, but its at least a third cheaper.
Do you think its a garment, that because it can be adjusted, it can be made to fit properly to a certain extent. Or, do i really need to try it on, so much so, i shouldnt mind spending the extra?

And im grately ineed of retail therapy, and i want a fix NOW, so if you have any knowledge, can you tell me?

I don't know much about how they're sized, but I'd be careful you don't go too overboard with your "training." If taken to the extreme, from what I understand, your internal organs can be damaged.

quite right! im going to do this safely and sanely and with my wholehearted consent.
And found a lovely website for on line shopping that Catalina posted in the library threads. (thankyou). So in fantasy mode, ive just blown $3,498.00 and im on top of the world, havent spent a penny, but have to go and see if i can get a proper one now, virtually anyway. The piddly amount ive spent so far, doesnt include a boned one.

My daughter had one made for her through an online company in Sydney and said it is not only beautiful, but the fitting is perfect. She is not the model perfect size 8, so sent the measurements as they instructed her to take them and it was made to fit.....and from memory is what you are describing , lacing etc....she wanted the old fashioned feel as opposed to fast and modern.

If you read the sizing chart on most of the sites (that ive been to) they usually tell you to order a size or a half size smaller then what you measure for the effect you want.

I too have looked at some of the gorgeous corsets online and spent a fortune in mind only

I plan to take a trip to London and get measured for one I can't afford and won't buy!(i know Londons a bit far for you but there must be somewhere near that measures and sell..isn't there?)

It will at least it will give me an idea of what one feels like, measurements I should take and how much help I will need to get in / out it.

Will also give me face to face info of how long etc to wear it.

I am sure lara had library link that said you need to unlace it over about 10mins in order for your body to re-adjust..but may well be remembering it all wrong.

I am really going to have to go for this cheaper option.

one of my friends made a corset herself. she said it's a pretty big job, but it's a ton cheaper. she used chain mail for boning. you can bend a bit more with it that way.

The australian wet suit fetish? umm, believe we may have met allready. Hi Ozsteamer But if you like the cacooned feel, or constricted, its definately a cheaper option than the corset, but, well, there's no contest is there? Would be interested in how strong his fetish is, perhaps he'd prefer the wetsuit. Im sure its more comfortable at least. Also you can wear it at the beach. And it looks better with the ironing board accessory.

Corsets can be made at home, although it is quite the undertaking. I went to a workshop a while back and we took old t-shirts and duct tape to make the patterns. It was GREAT!!! And I could have left it on for days. Can't wait for the rest of the workshop. Feel free to PM me if you wanna know more.
