I have been guilty of this. It's never that straight-forward. You can never do it without hurting the other person on some level, no matter how good your intentions are.

When it comes to matters of the hearts, I'm suck a fucking newbie.

I've learned to expect very little from a good portion of the people online - with the rare exception of a few amazing ones I've met, most are either very fickle, untrustworthy or playing some form of game. But on the other hand, except for a select few, I don't give much of myself to anyone either.

Do you think that by not giving too much of yourself to anyone on line, it may have something to do with the sort of men who engage with you?

To me, personally, it's more hurtful to sit by a phone waiting on someone that never calls, or making yourself look like some rabid stalker type (you know the type I mean) leaving messages that are never returned. Straight up honesty might hurt a bit for a second, but it allows you the opportunity to move forward, instead of languishing in fantasy land.

It is hard - I hate being mean and hurting people's feelings, but sometimes it's necessary.
