There is no question about it, trying to find new people to befriend and have a decent conversation with can be very difficult. It can be hard to find the words to say when engaging someone new and it can be nerve wrecking for many people. Just be yourself when saying hello, see what happens. You will either get a reply or you wont. You will have a conversation or you wont. However, a non-reply is not a failure, just an attempt that didn't work. You cannot find a new friend if you hold yourself back from trying. Just say hello, give a bit of yourself and hope.

Look around the site today and find someone new to say hello to. Start a conversation and see where it leads. There are so many opportunities for friendship here and we can only take advantage of those opportunities if we reach out.

def much more difficult
for years it was so simple to strike up a conversation with a girl......there were so many more venues to meet up......and it was just flat out easier......nowadays it seems like people are so much more jaded.....so much less interested in or desirous of meeting up with someone.....
over the years, i have had many wonderful female friends who i met randomly through AOL chat rooms, yahoo, CL classifieds, etc.......but those paths are fewer and far between now.....and yet a few of my very best friends are ones i met this way some of them 20+ years ago..
but, yes.....the excitement and anticipation of finding mail in one's inbox has never changed or waivered.....
for years it was so simple to strike up a conversation with a girl......there were so many more venues to meet up......and it was just flat out easier......nowadays it seems like people are so much more jaded.....so much less interested in or desirous of meeting up with someone.....

I think times have changed quite a bit. And on a site like this there is a very uneven ratio of men/women. I think that several people have been jaded and avoid talking at all. Just the way of the world. But, we can still try to find people to talk to, to chill with and create friendships. It is just a bit more of a challenge.

I have only chatted privately with a few people on here. I started a few of the conversations and have had a couple start the conversations usually its only a few messages back and forth then it stops. I will say i have a hard time with messaging people first as i don't want to feel like a creep but sometimes you just have to get past that feeling and try as it can go 1 of 2 ways they will either respond or ignore. Either way you still win because they either message you back or you have busted out of your comfort zone. It is hard to start a conversation with someone you don't know because most of the time i never know what to say to get it going. Most of the time i do read their profile before considering messaging the person as it does help figure out who they are but not everyone fills that information out. I am also very new here so i'm sure as time goes on i will chat with more people that have similar interests. I am an open person and always welcome any questions people may have and will always respond to a message sent to me no matter what sex they are because it never hurts to be nice. Thank you for posting. I believe starting a conversation here is out of the comfort zone for many people and it is a big reason why people do not send messages very often. It is reaching into the unknown, we have no idea what the other person will think. Being a site like this is can make one feel like they are being a bit creepy, as it is a good idea to look at the other person's profile and some of the things they posted. It can seem like an odd thing to do, in the real world you won't follow someone around before you say hello lol. But here, you can't see their mannerisms and make a choice on whether to talk or not, you have to look a bit. Strange in a way, but helpful. Keep reaching out to people, find someone that you think you can make a connection with and move forward.

Take some time to just enjoy the scenery around you, relax and let the day roll. Sometimes we just need to take some time for ourselves. Yeah, it is nice to have others around, but it is also nice to enjoy some peace and quiet. When you are nice and relaxed your mind can clear and you can move forward with other things you want to do, whether that is getting stuff done or starting some new conversations. Just take some time for you in between.
