Thousands of conservative-leaning Washington residents fled the deep blue state for neigboring Idaho, voter data published by the Gem State shows.

Data published by the Idaho Secretary of State’s office shows that out of the nearly 119,000 people who recently moved to the state, 65% registered as Republicans, compared to just 12% registering as Democrats.

The data, which was reviewed by Fox News Digital, show that out of the roughly 20,000 Americans who moved from Washington state to Idaho, 62% registered as Republicans, compared to 12% as Democrats, 24% as unaffiliated and 2% as "other." The percentage of registered Republicans originally from Washington who recently moved to Idaho is actually higher than the state’s overall percentage of registered Republicans, which sits at about 58%.

"We weren't surprised to find that Republicans are moving to Idaho. However, we were surprised to see just how overwhelming it was. Of those moving to Idaho, the majority of voters from 48 out of the 49 other states are Republican," Republican Idaho Secretary of State Phil McGrane told Fox News Digital.

California and the Northwest are being destroyed by left-wing lunatics and illegal immigration.

Go to Sun Valley if you want celebrity sightings.

Yum potatoes! Idaho could be a great place to live.

Harsh weather there, but that may still be better than drought. The coasters flooding in are raising home prices there.

It’s cold as hell here 6 months out of the year. The other 6 it’s hot hot hot.. at least where I live.. but we are about out of room and about to shut down any increase of population lol

Thus leaving the other states bluer, while the right-wing vote is wasted on a state that was already solidly in their corner. No complaints here.
It's all about quality of life and being free from un-American Marxists. :D

RW’s on the move from state to state, desperate to find an accepting place for themselves to call home and freely plant their seeds of hate in these here United States. A modern day conservative trail of tears that gets no sympathy.

Your message is quite hateful.

Ummm...sorry to be contrarian, but I think the authors of the article are leaping to a conclusion about why the people moving to Idaho are overwhelmingly republican.

A more likely explanation is that the filter works the other way. Given Idaho's extreme rightwing politics, most Democrats and moderates DON'T want to live there. There's no way I'd voluntarily move there. I'm honestly surprised the numbers aren't even more skewed.

I did at least 120 mph in a rental in Idaho. Many miles of flat straight empty road.

vetteman is a proven liar. it's best to either ignore him or mock him and move on.

So now, Idaho has achieved the statistical significance of being 0.57% of the nation. One 2 hundredth for the un-decimalized.

He also seeks out information that (he thinks) supports the conclusions he's already arrived at.
After all, it's hardly news that Idaho attracts right-wingers who want to be surrounded by the same. It's been happening for decades.

It's always been a haven for hateful extremists; after all it was the headquarters of the Aryan Nations. Only, that was just in the northern part, which seemed to draw all the haters and extremists out of the woodwork. Now, Aryan-minded people are moving all over the state, not just the Coeur D'Alene/Sandpoint area.

there's no bias like confirmation bias for the easily duped.

I live in Idaho and it is a beautiful state- but sadly, it has always had it's share of ugly people. Most of these live in the rural and outlying areas; Boise is still fairly reasonable. People lean conservative in Boise but most of them are conservative in a reasonable way, not hateful extremists (like the O.P. for example) who are campaigning to turn their state (and the rest of the country) into an impoverished authoritarian dictatorship.

Many Idahoans- both conservative and liberal, are actively pushing back against the hateful and authoritarian agenda pushed by the Rightguides and Hiscanhelpys of the world, and definitely making it known that they are unwelcome here. HOWEVER, by extension, I should be fair in saying that the failed ideas of urban leadership that have let down the larger coastal cities are not very well accepted either. Like I said, old-school Idahoans are conservative but work for fair, equitable and practical solutions towards good governance. Hatred, discrimination, censorship, anti-democratic values, and (especially) repression of individual liberties have NEVER been acceptable to Idahoans- something these newcomers will learn- maybe the hard way.

Look up the number of eastern counties that wanted to secede from the state of Oregon and become part of Idaho, most were conservative/Republican strongholds opposed to the leftist policies of the western part of the state.

You may not understand this, but you just confirmed exactly what Zanzie wrote....*chuckles*

They are opposed specifically to the lack of economic investment in the eastern part of the state, and the lack of support of, (and over-regulation of) grazing and agriculture in the eastern part of the state.

When you are talking about "Leftist policies" you are quite obviously NOT talking about economic policies impacting ranching, mining and agriculture. Because you clearly don't care about that stuff. All you care about is government persecuting minorities and people of color, restricting individual freedoms, and treating women like breeding stock.

Name one "leftist" policy in those districts. Just one.
