Congratulations to Nottinghamshire

Such a clueless dude thing to say.
So did your shouting at women from your car window class as simply a nuisance?
Go ahead and mansplain the whole 'little-lady doesn't understand real sexual harassment'. You can happily cat-call because somehow it's trivial ( to you ) and you haven't raped or sexually assaulted yet. Do you laugh along with the construction workers? Trivializing? Yup, that's a dude thing.
YOU should take that stick out of your ass. That's why you feminazis are making a true disservice to real -moderate- feminists like myself. Because people often think that they're the same.

CONTEXT is everything. And one has to use common sense.

Personally, back home I would've pretended not to notice, yet I chuckled internally, if some teens or silly guys passing by in a car or sitting on a bench whistled if I went by. On the rare occasion I would even crack a joke back and they'd laugh too, knowing that I caught them gooffing around. My judgment told me that it was just juvenile, and they didn't intend to carry it any further.
And yup, call me stupid or easy, but I missed the whistling after I migrated. It was fun.

But I would've been put off if a creepy lewd guy did the same.
Because I'm able to tell the difference between juvenile and creepy.

And do you think that construction workers who whistle at women who pass by are all rapists in the making? As annoying as they might be, some of them might be of dubious character, but others are just asshats looking for some entertainment or just killing time.

You either had different experiences than I had, or you're living in an environment different than I did -a dangerous one-.
But there was no need for you to react in such an aggressive high-mighty way, only because I expressed an opinion that's different from yours.

And equating ONE-OFF whistling or rude comments(which are just bad behavior) with sexual HARASSMENT is bad. It makes a huge disservice to real victims of sexual assault.

I agree with hash. I'm going to kill myself.

I agree with 80% of their points.

But two of them are just ridiculous and even counterproductive.
How can one put whistling and comments like "Hei beautiful" or juvenile or idiotic comments shouted from the seat of a passing car, under the category of sexual harassment? They should be considered rude behavior or public nuisance, at the most.

They're counterproductive, in that they trivialize and take credibility away from the entire thing.
And it's also disrespectful towards real victims of sexual assault or abuse. To put serious issues such as sexual assault/rape, gender discrimination and so on in the same category as catcalling.
Poor construction workers. Their job will seem so boring, from now on.
You know, jackasses following women around uninvited, THAT does happen, it is threatening, and it should get them in trouble. There are some legitimately dangerous behavior covered by this law that common sense says should be illegal. I'm down with laws against that.

But then they started lumping in catcalls and wolf whistles and that's where it goes too far.

It's like here in America where they arrest men for "manspreading" but women who sit there with their feet up on chairs getting pedicures and with their bags taking up extra seats don't get shit done to them at all. You know damned well these laws are aimed at men. They're fashioned that way just like those literacy laws were made in the South to target black voters.

Authorities with sexist and racist etc. agendas know how to shape laws that statistically target one group and not others.

In other news, tons of men are actually protesting this shit by petitioning by various means in this city. So we are in fact fighting back.

Ad victoriam, brothers.

I agree with you on that.

Those should not be labelled as sexual harassment.
If people are disturbed by them or the catcalling become too much of a nuisance, they should label them as public nuisance behaviors and fine those who do them. Or something in that line. I bet that people will quickly stop when it affects their wallets.

"Manspreading"? Do they arrest people for that? That sounds ridiculous.

Yup, but only if you're a minority. Sexism is ALWAYS racially tinged: even feminists recognize that fact.

I agree on that. There must be a racial element to it, otherwise those arrests don't make sense.

If you're a subway cop or whatever, just hand the selfish mofo a 50 $ fine or whatever, like they do when people park in the wrong place. I guarantee that they won't 'manspread' again.

Abuse is bad in any case.

Only one post but you managed to find an old thread from 2016 to make it in?

And yet another Alt is born, no doubt with the sole purpose of shit stirring.
