When you see a personal display of a confederate flag (such as on a bumper sticker or a t-shirt) what is your first reaction regarding the person displaying the flag?

I had to vote "other" because "he's a fuckwad" wasn't an option.

Seen some in Moscow, Idaho. Whoda thunk, it was at some sort of White supremecist rally-type-thing. I could only draw one conclusion from that.

I have nothing against the confederate flag, it's just a piece of history to me.

It doesn't bother me in a historical context to see the Confederate battle flag / navy jack.

Outside of that...

first reaction.... " THE SOUTH LOST!!!! GET OVER IT!" and stop giving me this "the south will rise again bullshit, damn sheet wearing retard."

When I see the confederate battle flag on a person or thing, I view that person as a rebel to convention. My Biker friends wear it to associate with rebellion to authority. I have Black Biker friends that wear it for the same reason. I have opinion on people based on their actions, not what they wear or display. Some display it to honor the war dead of our civil war.
If you are a part of the herd, you go along with whatever is the popular mood, even if it's wrong.
If you are a reverse racist, you view the flag from a victim perspective, as you've been taught by the mass propaganda. Taken to the extreme, why honor the war dead of America at all? Slavery was the norm until 1870, from then on it was segregation. The present American Flag flies under the new slavery, "diversity". Segregation by race instituted by the government. We're Americans first, our individual cultures are secondary in importance. How can a people move forward when they're always looking back?
:D

I really want to meet these Black bikers wearing the Confederate flag.

1--I doubt they exist.

2--If they do exist, I dare them to come to come to Atlanta and ride down MLK Blvd.

3--What's your rationalization for all the "SS" and German WW2 gear? Any brothas wearing that shit?

Kind of like adopting the flag for the herd of bikers to mean being a rebel to authority?

Indeed. And what could be more backward-looking than flying a discredited 140-year old flag and naming yourself "Lost Cause"?

I think "Poser" generally. I think people who fly it have very little appreciation for Southern values, culture, history, and just want to act like they know a tenth of a shit about what it's like to be Southern.

Unfortunately...

I had to vote in the majority, that it MAY show racist tendencies.

I am a southerner born and raised and when I was younger I displayed the Confederate Battle Flag on my wall. I still have that flag folded in my drawer. In the proper context this banner should be proudly displayed but it has been taken as a symbol of racism, rebellion, and hatred over the past decades. The battle flag should never be used instead of or flown above our National Standard. We should remember this is one nation, but we should also remember our history and heritage. To honor our southern heritage, properly display the true flag of the Confederate States of America, the "Stars and Bars". To honor our fallen great-grandfathers then properly display the "Battle Flag" or as otherwise known the CSA "Naval Ensign".

Real cute! All bikers don't wear the confederate flag like a herd, I know some who do! I wear a fucking SS on my jacket because I had relatives that fought and died with them. Most bikers wear NAZI insignias out of tradition for the founding club members that were WW2 vets who wore them as trophies. It"s only because of what you have been told, not what you know. You two don't get out much do you? Not wear it in MLK, GA? So reverse racism is okay with you pin heads...cool, this is America, as much as you're as prejudiced as any ignorant klansman toward people you don't know, or associate with. :D

The stereotype is that anyone with that flag is a racist. I don't know that for sure. The people whom I've met that displayed the flag, were self proclaimed "rednecks", and racists. Do they all go hand in hand?

Not all racists display the flag, so I guess this is just a segment of the population that are racists.

I hate everyone, I'm the wrong person to answer this stupid fucking question, asshole!

I don't know what happened but my most eloquent post came up as Unregistered :(

"Unfortunately..." was me.

You're a riot for all the wrong reasons.

From a Canadian standpoint.......

I just couldn't care less! Whatever political, personal, or religious tendancies you have, are fine with you.

As Rick Mercer put it, "What goes on inside the igloo, STAYS INSIDE THE IGLOO!"
