My hard drive say is has 1.93 GB used and free 1.80 GB...

Then why is my computer freezing sometimes if I have about 3 windows going while online... or when working offline????

I'm running windows 98....

I have defragged... and virus checked.....

?????????????????

Hi from the King Country

People go on about how big their hard disk is, but with the antiquated design in Windows, the RAM is always going to be the limiting factor on performance.

RAM stores data that the computer is using currently. It can fill up quickly with several programs running at the same time. THis makes your computer run like a dying fish. A reboot gives you a fresh start but only run programs you are actually using to minimise demands on RAM storage. Once you get to around 75% full, Windows doesn't like it and freezes up.

Unless you are a gamer or use big commercial programmes, 64K is adequate for home use if you manage it, Hell, a few years ago we dreamed of ever getting that much... such is progress.
