I have some pictures that I would prefer to remain unseen by children.

:)

Aside from saving them to CD.. and hiding said CD or carrying it around all the time. How can I hide them on my computer? Can I password protect one folder?

I'm using 98se.

On 98 you would probably have to download a prog that locks certasin directories. Seperate profiles wil not work in 98 they can stil go anywhere.

save them into a word doc, and then password protect the doc.

Not real secure, but you could hide the folder( so it is not normally seen when the folder is open). You could also bury the folder so deep that they would have to be very much trying to find it. Good if your kids are not too old... neither of these are great solutions.

I'll explain a little..

my kids are 16, 14, 12 and 7.

They don't live here.. and they don't have free access to my computer. I just don't want them accidently clicking on the folder and opening it.

so.. hiding would work. How is that done? And ummm how do I find it again once I hide it? LOL

Freaky, just rename the file "Income Tax Manuals" and they'll never open it.

I named my porn favorites folder "Dry, boring stuff" while my mom and dad were shackin' at my place. ;)

I did that.. it's "Educational" :D

But I don't want them accidently opening it.. and getting an eyefull.

I'm not to worried about the 16 year old.. I had his laptop for a few days.. I know what sites he goes to. And what pictures he saves. Thought about forwarding a couple to my email account.. use them as avs. ;)

LMAO! Then use HeavyStick's suggested software. *grins*

Download PKZIP. It has a facility to encrypt and password protect a zip file. PKZIP makes it a tad inconvenient to access them because you have to extract them from the zip file and then delete the unprotected files once you are done with them but the password protection does allowed controlled access. Just don't forget your password.

And you can put your password into a MS Word password protected file. :p

Winzip.

Save them in a Zip file with a password.
