That depends on what program you're downloading and what plugins it needs.

That sounds like the sort of error that Quicktime gives when you have old (outdated) quicktime codecs. The solution is to download the most current quicktime and it's "plugins."

If its not a quicktime program, rebooting after you've downloaded and installed the program might correct the problem.

Another possibility is that the program you're downloading needs a bit of "spyware" you've removed with Ad-aware or something similar.

Thanks, Harold!

It has been doing this for a long time, anytime I try to download a rather hefty program from the net.

I will check into downloading the quicktime codecs or whatever they are!

Just what program(s) are you trying to download -- Quiktime problems only affect (quicktime) movie files and multi-media programs that can play them.

Don't rule out the possiblity of the file being corrupted before you downloaded it or during download. A slow internet connection such as 56K dialup will constantly incur problems with large files.

Make sure all the drivers on your computer are fine. Run a scandisk and defrag utility. It's usually never one thing that causes faults in computers but many things all working together. Also be mindful of having too much activity running in the background while downloading.

Wierd harold is right though. Check with the program you are using first for an updated version.

It is also quite possible that you are trying to use a plugin that has to be purchased and does not have a free equivalent. This has happened to myself a few times.

Check the extension of the file your downloading, and that will help greatly in figuring out which is the best program, or pirated equivalent to use..
