My comp says i have something called ''iworm_attck_v122.02a'', i run all kinds of antivirus scans but nothing is found. Can anyone help me get rid of this damn thing.

it could just be particularly sneaky. also, if you have more than one anti-virus application running, that by itself can sometimes cause problems: they tend not to play well together.

Ok, if no anti-crapware scanner you've run finds this thing, what's the alert that tells you you've got it? A popup dialog or something?

If your virus scans can't find it, how did you find out about it?

It sounds like your virus protetion worked; it caught the wrm trying to install, blocked it, deleted it, and then notified you that it tried to infect your computer.

Running aditional scans after a realtime virus blocking program does its thing is often fruitless because, when it works right, there is nothing left there to find.

I keep getting popups saying spyware was detected, yet i keep running scans and nothing shows up. Its prolly one of those damn ads that wants me to click it and then try to get me to buy it.

Well like I told you earlier hun, I had that before and after running it found nothing, another check the next day found 3 viruses and a worm.

Sometimes though I kept popups from my anti-virus telling me something was detected and quarantined then i heal or delete it, forget which now.

I used the McAfee stinger so i`m hoping that got rid of it.

Double check with Housecall. It is an online virus scan from Trend Micro who specializes in corporate antivirus and firewalls. Also, it checks for spyware now. You will have to do a small download the first time you run it, but I have used it for YEARS on every box we own and never had a problem. If I remove a virus from another person's box, I recheck with Housecall.

Are you talking about popups when you're surfing the net, or just when you're using the computer doing other stuff? If it's surfing the net, I wouldn't worry too much about it, although it could still be spyware. Although it sounds like you've got something either new, rare, or targetted.

You'll need to get something a little better than the free scanners, or a good tech to clean it.
Sunbelt Counterspy has a 30-day trial, I think, which should probably find what you've got. If not, drop me a PM, and I'll walk you through installing a remote desktop program on your computer, and I can fix it remotely.

Most Anti-virus programs don't look for or remove spyware and ad pop-ups. What you need for that kind of problem is an anti-spyware program like ad-aware, spybot search and destroy, or the like.

Trendmicro's Housecall might find and remove it, but a dedicated spyware remover or two would be better.

I used spybot but the damn thing is still there. how do i get rid of this spyware?

You might need to reboot into safe mode, then run Spy Bot. Also make sure you have the lasted version and the latest updates.

This is one of those nasty resident worms that sets up as a service, so it is hard to kill. Safe Mode should stop it from loading, thus allowing the spyware cleaner to kill it.

that is very possible. run spybot search and destroy after updating it to the latest version

avast.com free home edition is my AntiVirus of choice. it has caught latent virii on my wife's machine that Symantec and Panda platinum didn't see.

I downloaded Windows Defender on the last comp that had a spyware infestation. It has a tool that will display all active network connections, and that eventually pointed out the file that was the downloader. Turns out the comp was connected to a server in, I think Korea, but not sure... And its free.

I got infected with spyware and viruses about a month ago. I went to the spyware doctor website and performed a free scan. It found viruses and spyware that SpyBot and McAfee couldn't find. I ponied up the $30 and bought it. It got rid of the spyware and viruses and I have been fine since. It runs in the background and warns you of potential threats.
