No.. I'm not having more problems.

but when I reformated my computer a couple of weeks ago.. it reinstalled a really old version of IE (my preferred browser)

Now I'd like to update.. should I go for IE 6? pros? cons?

also.. when I go to Tools>Internet Options>Advanced.. what do I want (need) checked.. and what don't I need checked?

I lost all my informational links when I reformated and I'm to damn lazy to go find them again

I've been running IE6 here quite a while. No problems that I know of, other that the usual "Bill bugs". If you grab it, PLEASE make sure you grab all the security updates form the M$ website (just run Windows Update to get it.)

I was the same as you. I was satisfied with MSIE v3 and wanted to stay there, but alas, the web has grown beyond and almost requires us to use MSIE 5+ or NS6+. Might as well upgrade. Before long, you will have no choice.

if IE6 has improved i'd say go for it. i tried it when it first came out, it may have been in beta form. i did not like it and my wife hated it so i removed it.

so far IE5.5 does the job well. note: have it on disk because downloading from the windows update takes so damn long with dial up.

Be sure and do all of your window updates!

I was warned IE6.0 had a few quirks that were extremely annoying, so I am still using IE5.5 and have had no problems or crashes ever. But IE6.0 might be your only choice as a downloadable upgrade from Microsoft.

I'm running IE6 right now with all the patches and bells and whistles.

If you wanna know what to do as far as security issues and such, go to PC Pitstop. They'll tell you what needs to be done. If you're not using Outlook, ignore that part.

I'm running.. McAfee Virus Scan and BlackIce Defender.. PC Pitstop (that is one link I did remember and use all the time) says my system is fine..

I'm not having any problems with the IE that i'm using.. just figured it was an old version so I would upgrade.

I think I'll let this thread go for the evening then decide tomorrow.
