Comments That Make Your Day

I laugh if I look back at the comments I got for my one only Lit story, Naughty Candy. A story that I had hoped the readers would realize was meant to be at least a little funny.

Of the 29 comment I got, (And of course the ones I enjoy most) were in part:

- "Looks like Martians have invented a stupid author ray. I doubted this guy needed a very large dose."
- "WTF - this story has no logical continuity, none. It's like, well like garbage."
- "Dude your drivel was baaad and plain stupid too. keep your job dude, do it, do it, just do it. You can do it"
- "This is a story of insane people, without even much of a pretense of plausibility."
- "Mental, just mental. A story for post-modernists and all those nutters who think that cause and effect is a fairytale invented by the patriarchy."
- "Nope, nuh uh. Cheating whore, eject, eject. End of story.
- "1 star - wimp/cuck crap - totally unbelievable and actually it is quite pathetic. ONCE & DONE - kick the slut to the curb. NEXT!

For the same story, the ones who thought it was funny, and got the joke, commented:

- "Unfortunately, quite a few folks will claim every word is true and will burn us for laughing at it."
- "Haha The author wrote a COMEDY and all of the other commenters thought it was a serious story! What a pack of literal minded idiots. Some funny bits here, especially the dick chewing and the knee fucking.
(I couldn't write knee fucking without laughing again). Comedy is very hard to write, so I commend you for giving it a shot.
- "Hey, you meet a girl named Cindy, who's the top draw at a strip club, what do you expect? No need for readers to get pissed off at this story. It was so over the top that no one could take it seriously."
- "Better than many others."
- "Made me laugh. Funny and different. Good writing, too."
- "Wow! I loved the story, what a twist in normal LW stories. ... I'm sure the anonymous trolls are going to go crazy in their comments, but F'em. They have no balls."
- "Nice! Story is not logical, but I love the way you put it together. I am usually BTB follower, but you have done very well. P.S. Let's face it life isn't always logical. 5 for unusual approach."
- "Gave 4 stars. Mainly because the story was nutsy crazy. Had to laugh and not take it seriously."

I think it's funny that the same story got almost as many hateful comments as it did positive.

But that is LW, and exactly what I'd expect.

Yes, I do. I do like writing weird stories! :D This one came in on Wheelchair Girl.
PS: I think he actually meant page 3. Or maybe page 2. Could it be 1 & 4? Hmmm.

page 4 was really weird but you tied it together well. like their sudden romance and life saving kidney transplant

I've now received a bunch of nice comments defending my "UK crap" story, liking the realistic characters and someone said it's nice that it's long, as it gives the characters "room to breathe".

But I was rather touched by someone taking the time to comment on a new uncommented chapter, "Hey, I'm still with you. Maybe identifying with too much of your story brings it more to life.
Well written & sparks my imagination"

Sadly anon, so I guess I won't find out what they identify with. An ex-prisoner? A lonely student with crap family? A guy with difficulties with social skills who everyone thinks is a dickhead? Or someone working in rural Wales? Who knows?

Waves: 6 comments in this afternoon:

BTW 5 of the comments are from that LW commenter of AH fame 26thNC

Cheatify The Bitch

Again, great use of 750 words to burn a cheating bitch.

Cheatify The Bastard

Even better than the original. This should be the fate of all cheaters.

April Fool - No Longer

Another great 750 word bitch burning. It’s past time for Scorpio to write again.

April Fool - Best Friends

Great joke, that is rare in that it ended well.

April Fools - Gotcha

Three great April Fools stories. This is now my favorite.

Demon Blood

Sorry I couldn't vote as I would have given the story 6 stars!

This is the big one that pushed me into deciding to pull the trigger with writing Part 2, which is currently around halfway done. It's from my story Beastly Roommates.

Uhh. Wow. I didn’t expect the story to be as good as it was but omg. The amount of bad stuff I read before today made this story very surprising to me. I loved how you wrote it to be long which made it so that characters could be fleshed out and heck, mostly every single character feels real and have actual depth thanks to 11 pages, the relationship between Ruth and David feels real, it felt natural, the progression from roommates to friends to mates felt natural and never forced at all, the settings are told and explained in such great detail as well, just omg. Please if you can make a part 2! I know you wanna continue to expand and tell the relationship and characters. And if so, please do! Your writing is really really good for a ameture! I really hope that you continue to make great stories and get better at this, because man I had so much fun while reading this.

Ps. I liked the refrence to real life games and movies, it just makes it feel so much more real. Espically the varied but cool FF9 references. Being my favorite game and all, nice surprise :33

Your stories are so wonderful, I wish you were my sister.
This one caught my attention today.

... I am not anyone's sister. But nice to know I can pull off a somewhat convincing female perspective.

Another excellent comment posted yesterday on one of my personal favourites, "Transplant!" One of these days, I have to do
a rewrite and fix a few errors.

Truly excellent! Original and clever as hell. I can see this as the basic plotline of a Stephen King novel. Way to go! 5*'s.

Nice comment today on Wheelchair Girl :)

I hope we can get a small follow-up or even a post get together story. I would love to read about there life and if maybe they have a set of twins. Awesome story my friend. Awesome !!!

Just got this one, kinda proud of it...

"Applause!!! Applause!!! Bravo!!! Bravo!!! You have logged 114 stories of pure shite. Hundreds of pages of smelly, moldering, chunky brown stew spewed from your spasming, wart rimmed sphincter and left to bubble in the toilet bowl of your underachievement made irrelevant by your refusal to acknowledge the unpleasantness of your reality. You've given birth to a cauldron of crap! You sir, are a fecal wonder. An excrement savant worthy of praise for setting the bar so low. Much to my surprise and overwhelming bewilderment, you have established yourself as the Bono of writing in a first class effort straight to the bottom. Never give up! Never surrender! Applause!!! Applause!!! Bravo!!! Bravo!!! Bravissimo!!!"

Anonymous, of course. I'm surprised it wasn't written in a yellow font.

Gotta wonder what kinda life this person lives to have such keen insight into mine... XD

But... I really like U2...

I’ve only been doing this two months and the story I was writing was an unofficial sequel to one created by Spector_Dugan, so pretty big shoes to fill. But I got this on the third part and it made me smile…

“I'm usually not a fan of 'unofficial' sequels to original stories, but I'm really enjoying this! Hope you continue!”

Did you get permission to "continue" another writer's story?

"Unofficial sequel" suggests not. If not, it's a pretty dodgy thing to do, pinching someone else's story just because you want to continue it - that's infringing copyright.

I did get permission.

I approached them first to co-author my idea, but as they had no plans for the characters, they encouraged me to write the next adventure as a solo mission.

I’d never written anything like this before and was following a legend. Now that I’ve got my toes wet, I fancy sticking my foot in with another idea.

Good to hear. Thanks for clarifying, and thanks for doing the right thing.

This topic comes up fairly regularly, and many writers don't get permission to use another author's characters, and don't see that it's wrong when they don't.

I had to.

1. You’re right. It’s a respect thing.

2. I loved the story and characters that much I needed their input and….

3. I had no idea what I was doing so was hoping they’d work it with me. Now, I’m glad I did it myself.

I got this one this morning on "Homeless." It's my new favourite.

I will not read anymore of your stories. I spend too much time with tears in my eyes. Time for me to register with Literotica so you can be in my first five favorites!"

It just made my day!

Post your comments when a fan makes your day. :D
Gordo, so many of the comments that others have shared enticed me to check out authors that I never experienced here, so if that was part of your objective when starting this post, well done.

With 65 submissions here, I have 740 total comments. It was tough to pick a favorite, so I am listing a few from my favorite stories that made my day when I read them:

“Absolute corker, one of the longest “all in one hit” stories I’ve read here on Lit, and it didn’t disappoint, the occasional error, plus I’d have liked a bit more detail on the peripheral characters towards the end, but if wishes were horses…. 5 stars because I thoroughly enjoyed it, plus it was a wide ranging story over a decade or more with a happy ever after, which let’s be honest is what we’re looking for in a romance. Many thanks for writing and posting, cheers Ppfzz.”

“Epic story. Enjoyed every bit of it... Would like to imitate the fatherly role portrayed in this series, when I finally become a father...
Thumbs up...Keep 'em coming.”

“A New Tom Clancy? This story reminds me of the 1st time I read a Tom Clancy novel. Lots of near real tactics and equipment. If only this could actually happen - I'm talking about the ability & desire of our government to fix international criminality in real life! Was a long read but worth it! Can't wait to read the follow-ups in your archive.”

“You are one fine writer. I have thoroughly enjoyed your stories and loved this one. I wasn't a fan of the strip club or the suggested relationship between Franc and Pattie but you went back to your usual high standards after that chapter. Thank you for sharing your stories with us. They are well worth the time to read them.”

“Said it all before, if we could all be like the good characters in this story we wouldn't have any problems in this world.”

“AWESOME TALES... but, I hate you! Every time I read one of your stories, I long for my teen years in Laguna and at UCI. In-n-Out on the beach.... the smog... the girls. FML :)

“You Hit It Out Of The Park ~ Again. I have thoroughly enjoyed your stories. They are full of interesting characters with amazing adventures. I decided to wait until the last in the series is posted to start reading them as I hate the wait (although you did an amazing job on getting this series posted). Thank you for all your hard work, it was appreciated.”

“Absolutely brilliant, anyone disparaging this needs to retire to the naughty corner!”

“Please write the next book and continue the fantastic work. I am not sure if you realize this but your work is better than some of the greats Childs Grisham nelson de Mille Connolly and should be rewarded with the same critical acclaim.”

I like viewing and reading some of the other stories too. Seeing a great comment is a motivator. But my original intent was a little more basic. I was sick and tired of the constant stream of AH threads about the horrible comments in Loving Wives. Many of my stories were there and many of the comments I've posted come from them.

When the majority of authors here shit all over something constantly, it tends to scare off the new writers. And that isn't fair. I'm of two minds on that:
1/ If you can be scared off that easily, perhaps you shouldn't be writing.
2/ There is an alternate reality in Loving Wives where writing good stories gets you a different reception.

I started this thread because I wanted something positive to read. There are plenty of negative threads already.

I suspect some hyperbole here, but I can't deny this cheered up my morning no end - I think it's the first private message I've ever got that isn't just one of 'you suck' or 'let's fuck':

"I came across Educating Laura, loved it.. and then read your bio and ...and wow! I think you're my new favorite author!"

Or as a more verbose guy put it,
"I agree with the most recent Anonymous; if I have to read one more story with bra cup sizes (what, do they rifle through their laundry, or shop for them?!), I'm gonna toss my cookies.
This is thankfully free of that waste, has character development, an actual story, and a smart, sympathetic main character that I'd like to know even more of.
Write away! Keep sharing, and thanks for leaving tracks to successive stories! You're doing everything right, as far as I'm concerned."

From Anon

"You sound, like you're hot. *roll in the hay. I miss your butt pic."

Thank you, I think, I guess. *delete.

Still weirdly made me smile.

Great story. She did tell him a few times that she was a monster. It's too bad he didn't listen and ended up
[-------------]. Too kind for his own good.
Vampires are sexy. Vampires are monstrous. :giggle:
