Comments That Make Your Day

Waking up to this made me so damn happy:

“Geezus. You have my full, rapt attention. Time travel. I’m there. His glasses, the shoebox, the scars. Absolutely poor and so, so rich. I need a cigarette. Fuh…Following. Beautiful.”

(I also got a lovely comment from one of my beta readers, but that’s kinda like when your mom calls you handsome)

Dropped a mother son story today, it's something I wrote in 2015 for sale, but pretty dried up in the market so I posted it here as I like to still give something to the readers here who supported me all these years.

Its quick paced for me, not quite a stroker, but not a lot of conflict either. Kind of a toss away to me, but this is a nice comment

Leave it to LC68 to provide a good Mom/Son story. Earlier this year there was some great ones to come but it's been dry for most of the year. Just Luke last year actually. We need more Mom/Son stories from LC68 to show these authors how it's done

I collaborated with Blind_Justice on a story inspired by and modeled on the work of Robert E. Howard (creator of Conan the Barbarian). Today, I found this anonymous comment on the story:

This story is worthy of some Frank Frazetta cover art! Well done!

You might not know Frazetta's name, but you've seen his work. I don't have the words in American English to describe how this comment makes me feel. I'm going to have to hop across the pond and borrow their vocabulary.

I'm chuffed. I'm dead chuffed.

Fucking hilarous, love you pulling so many of your story lines together. Raquel is a great character, loved the pacing as you gradually have been bringing her back. The relationship with Chris is sweet, the characters mesh so well as a new and very odd couple. Please keep them coming Shakna, you always write such intersting characters.
I was really nervous as to how Lit was going to react to a zombie little sister. Might have been pushing the envelope, a bit. This being the first comment brought a grin.

I just finished reading it about an hour ago, you deserve plenty more comments like that for it.

Aw, thanks! I did see your comment, too, which was another nice thing to wake up to. (Though I'm apparently one of the affected people who has zero notifications on their Home, for the last 48hrs.)

Same here, nothing showing up, even a notification about a new chapter that posted. Looks like Manu has a busy night ahead of him...

this made my day and the weeks worth of editing worth it. It came from Chapter 2 of "You're not a serial rapist".

I am a 75 year old survivor of prostate cancer who has been unable to achieve an erection in over six years. Incredibly, this story has given me long missed stirrings in my groin and tears of gratitude to my eyes! Without question, this is the most tender and stimulating love story I have ever experienced. I have read it four times in the past 36 hours. The characters and circumstances portrayed are real. I have checking your submissions page frequently looking for the next installment.

"So confused, so well written, so awful, but that is the point I suspect. Well done . . ."
And @AlexBailey 😘
"Holy shit. What a powerful piece. I'm awed and terrified. Great writing!"

That was one of the best stories i have ever read on this site. The driving home scene, was very emotional to me the reader. You captured it perfectly. No eaay task as a writer.

5 stars

Nice to see the notifications working again, although I haven't had updates on this thread which makes me wonder if there's a problem with the email system?

Anyway, nice comment on FIDO this morning: :)

Great idea. Very funny.

Yesterday morning, my team (ERT) pulled 6 people from flooded roads and rivers (DO NOT DRIVE ACROSS FLOODED ROADS).

One of them was my old neighbor Mrs. Smith. When we got to shore, she wouldn't let go of me. She told me,

"You're an angel from God Sean. I prayed that you would come save me and you did. You truly deserved that award."

Ain't I a handsome devil

Good work! Glad you were there for them.

I love my readers. Just look at this:
I thoroughly enjoyed Cruising Altitude whenI read it and you know something, Omen? I think this story is even better, a total delight. I could almost feel the bitter cold of the ice, the heat of the sauna, the beauty of the wildlife, the burgeoning relationship between the women, so good were your descriptions. I know that you are (probably) neither British nor American so now I'm guessing at one of the Scandinavian races. Whatever, your writing is of the very highest standard and you deserve every compliment I can offer. When I can make the time, I will definitely get round to reading other stories of yours. Once more, congratulations on a fine piece of work.
