bump needs to bring back to life
I might be willing to give it a go. Are we setting up a schedule as in the first post or just winging it?
Just get started. The rest will take care of itself.
I think all reviews should be in one thread. It's easier to find, particularly if all of them have the story name and a link to it.

I've always wanted to be a counterweight. :L)Hey HP. Actually I think that there is another issue here that warrants reviews all over the place in that it gets the word out that "Hey <gasp> there are actually stories here too." The more some of us shout out "Hey look at this new story" the more people even in here might head back to the story lines and find some very cool stories.
Besides it makes a nice counter balance to all the political nonsense!
By the way, the last couple of links to this thread don't work on the Story Review Thread.
This might or might not be the place to post this, if not, sorry. Fuckwaffle just got me thinking.
So, is 4-stars a good vote? Why? Why not?
My thought is this, once you lose the red H, your story is basically kicked to the basement never to be seen again. A 4-star pulls a current red-H down creeping it ever closer to losing its status, or makes it one step harder for a non-red-H story to ever gain a red-H. While it would be nice to have a second-tier, so to speak, to make it possible for readers to find the "not quite A++ but very good" stories, right now there isn't one. I generally vote any story that deserves a "grade" better than 75% a 5-star. Given the 1 and 2-bombers out there who don't get swept and pull a story down, I figure, whatever boost I might be giving a decent story helps to balance it out. I guess this comes from my POV on the red-H, which is that it's not some sort of gold-star award, a Literotica Pulitzer Prize for best story, but rather a way to weed through the thousands upon thousands of stories here to find decent reads.
I just noticed that the new search engine (maybe the old one had it and I never noticed) has a feature for pulling up red-H's. This is something I'll use to try to grab those red-H's that fall below the Top lists. Maybe it would be better, instead of the red-H feature, if you could search by score number, like say 4.0, 4.1, etc.
Hmm.
(Yeah, I'm just killing time here waiting for paint to dry. Don't mind me.)
the reason for the 4 star vote - while the story was in that 75% it just was not up to his past efforts, all of which when i read them received 5 stars.
the old search engine did/does have the ability to bring up those stories with a red-H, it also has the ability to bring those stories up with the green-E and blue-W.
(aren't we all?)
So, you rated a writer against his own previous work?
I try to vote based on what I think of as the Lit standard (purely subjective, I know!) I also try to keep my fingers off the vote button if I happen to read a genre I don't like, or the story happened to go in a direction I find distasteful. I have a distinct bias and I know it. I also know I have no deep literary understanding so I'm mostly voting on how much I like the story, not the quality of the writing.
But I find, personally, that I'm a more careful voter now that I have posted stories than I was before. (I'm sorry authors! I was clueless!)
(Nearly done with the paint, it's drying again. Then the furniture shift and start over with the undone portion. I get a 1-bomb for painting speed.)
